We live in a gardenhome so we have peeps who bought above us. Monday my wife came home to a flood later to be dertermined it was caused by his 100gal aquarium.
He said his pump stopped working and then syphoned then water out and onto out kitchen ceiling and so forth.
My wife called him at work he came by looked and said Oh it must be my fish tank. and left my wife to clean up. He then came down the next day to take a look at it. "oh we'll have to get that fixed" ...no F*&*ing duh dipstick (is what I tought). So they ripped up our ceiling we have masive dehumidifiers and air dryers in the house everywhere.so much noise and dust and insulation flying. On top of all that we must keep the windows closed. last temp reading in ght hous is a stale air of 100F or 37.7 C butter is melted. we cant use the kitchen (to dirty and we can;t shut the machines off) can;t sit in living room to noisy. The only place we can hide out is the bedroom (thank god we have an extra system down there we can watch dvds only no cable)
The neighbour didn't ask if there was anything he could do to help or appoligize !!!we are pissed to sat the least !! this must go on for another 3 days then the big machines will leave...then comes in the repair crew !!!
Insurance says don't put a claim through deductable is only 500$ and hotels and food for the 3 days is not worth that and then our premiums will go up!!! now we are trying to get the dude upstaires to call his insurance he didn't do that yet !!! but out insurance says it's condo or his insurance who will pay !!!!
thanks for letting me vent !!!

couldn't give a flying F(&K about the fish !!! but yeah they are fine he's luck I don't fry em up cause we can't get to our fridge
-
But your system is ok right? Hmmm I was thinking ... you could get some good revenge by playing a song really really loud at like 3 in the morning, then another at 3:30 etc....
-
The system is covered by bed sheets to prevent any dust or debris from entering...I just hope with all the dryersand dehumidifers (industrial ones) that it doesnt damage the speakers..it's now 120F or about 45 c in the house !!
The neib. still has not called us or left a note on our door saying sorry or asking if there is anything he can do for us!!
Tonight i had to cook spagetti outside on the BBQ !!! -
I live in Phoenix and I don't think that a house could get up to 120 here...how that's doable in Canada is frightening....
If you have any idea who his insurance is through, call them and file the claim without his knowledge.....he'll find out about it one way or another.......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
120 degrees is pretty hot. Are you SURE the fish are ok??

well they have the dehumidifiers massive ones and hot air dryers drying out the air and the walls.....the temp reading was 120F no windows can be opened we don't want the humid air from outside to come in the house...
that is why it is so darn hot in the house...but the pumps and dryers and dehums might be removed today....which is great cause I could use the kitchen again and my living room and turn on the AC (We don't turn on the AC it would have to work to hard to cool down) -
I think the "grumpy old men" technique would be suitable here.
Go upstairs to "talk about the situation"
when he's not looking, you drop the dead fish you bought at the grocery or pet shop behind his sofa and let nature take it's course.

hmmm...now that sounds good as long as the stench does not come downstaires !!!
we just found out the dehum and fans have left the house this morning and the AC is crancked to the max !!! i can get my living room back and my kitchen !!
yipee not I can think in the cool on how to get back at him for disrupting out lives and not offering to help us out !!! -
hey sorry about all the crap you're having to go through.. and that your neightbor is being such a ****.. dude must not have any nads..
Talk to his insurance.. and get them to get things moving. I don't see why your insurance would go up.. it's not your fault. I'd go to a nice 4 star motel till the work is finished and eat steak every night and have his insurance pick up the bill for everything. That's the American way.
Not to mention the stress this is putting on you and your wife.. you both may have to see a doctor at their expense. get my drift?
This past spring.. we had a wind storm.. and it did some damage to our roof.. where the shingles blew off and then it rained... causing damage to my roof then the water leaked into the bedroom. My insurance paid for everything.. total cost was $2,800. I had a $500 deductible too. MY rates did not go up.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
a lot of times your insurance will go up though...like if you get in a wreck even though they hit you and you did everything right, your insurance rates might still go up
sucks but thats life

we have the condo manager involved she is on our side...and is putting pressure on him to contact his insurance.
Now that the equip is out on the main flr I don't mind....Now I don't even want to hear form him or say sorry or if there is anything he can do to help now that the biggest crap is over with...it's kinda late for him to offer help...Im just waiting till winter if he needs a boost for his car or anything from us !! just try and ask !!! -
our ceiling is now in and we have chosen new floors it should be painted by today if not tomorrow and carpets gets steamed next week and new floor goes down next week too
-
I'm glad to hear it. Hey, the upside is the Mrs. gets to do a little decorating thing!!!;)

PS...glad everything's okay in your world again. -
funny but not after posting last I get a call from my wife...well the left overs from Frances dumped 6 inches of watter in my city, to come home to our foyer being a complete write-off the whole foyer wall floor ceiling need to be replaced, as well as our computer room the ceiling and 3 wall must be ripped out we are now walking on plywood floors carpets have been ripped up everywhere. what a nightmare !!! so we are back to square 1, waiting for the insurance adjuster, then waiting for the crew to come in and ripped out the walls( they came sunday to remove the carpets they stunk) and then wait for the repairs to start...
on the bright side.....I will be able to run flat speaker wire under the carpet now (waf approved) we will get new carpets new floors in powder room, kitchen, foyer, paint the whole house... -
Hopefully no more fish were harmed.
