Funny antics on the job...

Today my brother was faxing something to one of our Distributors and I had just gotten on the phone with McMaster-Carr to place an order for some parts that were requested by someone at my work.

As soon as the woman answered my brother drops the loudest sounding **** I've heard in quite some time. I immediately start laughing when I'm on the phone with this lady who is sounding really serious...almost like a telephone operator. I'm trying to say the part numbers and inside I'm cracking up laughing and trying to tell her the part numbers. My brother, being the effer that he is (I kid), busts out laughing too...so that only makes me want to laugh more. I'm stumbling over the part numbers and giggling and then I told her "I'm sorry...my co-worker decided to be funny as soon as I get on the phone.."

Woman - "Oh...goofin' around are they? (laughs)"

At least she was OK with it. Even still I couldn't stop thinking about it and laughing. Thank God I didn't have a totally absurd outbust. Didn't help I was ordering "Steel Balls," 1/4", 5/16", 7/16"...

It was really quite funny and I'm laughing about it even typing it right now.

:D

Funny stuff! I once emailed the "burp.exe" program to a friend of mine at work, of course I renamed it YZFR1.exe because he was an R1 rider. Well, he clicks on it thinking he's gonna see some cool R1 video or something, and his computer begins belching and farting randomly, and he doesn't know how to disable it---short story long, it was hilarious when the boss came over to his cube asking serious questions and his computer is belching and farting...

...man, it was like getting the giggles at a funeral, you just can't stop.:D

Demi - That's classic man, glad it happened :)

Steve - Email me that .exe immediately, I NEED it :) When you get a chance of course, that sounds great.

A little while back we had a few incoming rounds, so we go through the normal drill of going to the bunkers and doing a headcount. The bunkers we have at this particular camp are made out of big metal shipping containers. You know, the kind that you see loaded on the back of 18 wheelers or cargo ships. They're covered with hesco baskets (filled with dirt) and sandbags. This particular one didn't yet have one of the sides protected with the baskets or sandbags...

So everyone is pretty much inside. A couple of the new guys are shaken up and hanging deep inside the makeshift bunker, while myself and a few other old timers step out front to have a smoke. Well as I'm standing there smoking I notice one of the labor foreman coming around the corner from behind the bunker.... with a big rubber mallet in his hand and a sly grin. I made eye contact with him and grinned as I knew exactly what was about to happen.

He takes the hammer in one swift and heavy stroke and slams it against the side wall of the metal container just on the other side of where the new guys were sitting. *BOOM* It makes a deep, loud, low thud inside the container.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone jump and scurry like that. With the exception of when a mortar round landed about 30 yards from my office. ;)

I know it sounds terrible to do something like that that, but I was on the ground laughing and those guys still haven't forgiven us for scaring the $#%& out of them.

We called those shipping containers "industrial strength body bags". You don't see them very often when you are in the front :)

Yeah my ex and I split up in '03, and I moved back to Houston. Worked a short contract at HP then scored a gig with KBR/Halliburton as an IT/Communications contractor for the DoD. I'll be back in Texas in December. I can't freaking wait.

    You interested? We're hiring. ;)

Looks like you have turned around - and for the better. Good on ya bud! I look foward to taunting you when you get back!

You don't have to have IT experience. There are a lot of things you could do over here.

Go to http://www.kbrjobs.com and take a look at all of the stuff overseas. You could do MWR (morale welfare and rec.) - all those guys do is sit around all day and play PS2, watch movies, and lift weights... and they make over 80k a year. ;)
