I've read a lot of posts here that suggest having direct speakers as surrounds instead of the bipole/dipole to listen to music in multichannel formats. Why is that ? And what about movies ?
Thanks

    Hi:

I think the posts have concluded that it is really a matter of preference, and what you want to accomplish in your setup.
Some like direct and some like indirect. It's all up to you.

this is true... the last poster had it right.. it's all about what you like.
for example I have a very small TV room (12x14) so i decided to go with the FX/300i in bipole mode.. after trying some direct speakers.. i am very happy with the diffused surround I get from the surrounds. when i had the direct speakers hooked up.. the surround sound was to focused.... mostly because i could not place them far enough behind my sweet spot.

I opted to not get the direct firrings because my couch is all the against the wall. I also have alot more movies on VHS than on DVD. It works for me.
