Well, to make a point... Rockford made quite a few H/U's but a LOT of them were re-badged Dennons... or re-badged and re-faced. Maybe Polk CAN make a H/U, but I'm sure we'd all appreciate it if they were POLK and not re-badged. Also for the "look of the black speakers" I just had to post this pic I just saw... this is the oldest Polk sub design I've seen to date... I think:

Personally I think these are the best looking speakers out right now. Very plain and simple but very cool looking. I also think this x-over is the baddest with the exception of maybe the Morel Elate.

I dont [JL Rules] know what [long live JL] you are referring to.

I wouldnt [Viva JL] stoop so low as to get involved [All hail JL] in some juvenile pissing contest. Im much [JL smokes] more mature than [Bow before JL] that.

my only concern is that noobies might be reading this and think JL is actually good...and im here to make sure that doesnt happen:)
macleod secretly hates JL too...but hes jealous of me having a 1.5+kilowatt system so he decided to take his anger out in a less direct manner

And these look like Quart's old reference series (not that the new stuff looks much different). I think the crossover looks kind of cheap. I don't know if you're just referring to a certain price point, but the Quart "Q" series crossovers look much nicer.

exactly alike aside from the color
not extremely shiny, just a little gloss to them
nothing is as shiny as the current mm124s
hell...even a dull gunmetal gray would look pretty cool
i asked this but no one responded...does stuff like this actually get used when the 'higher ups' at polk start designing speakers?
i noticed a lot of people on here were wanting an all black and then the new momo components came out all black...

I wouldn't call them all black, they're carbon fiber. I've been (as well as many others) wanting carbon fiber for as long as I've worked here. The dust caps on the old MM465 was cool, but why not the whole cone? Finally. I think if we're considering something and people here seem to back it up then it helps, but if we're going in a certain direction and the five regulars on the forum don't agree it's not going to change the direction of the product. I like to hear people's input, but you've got to understand that we have lots of dealers whose installers and salespeople are always telling us what they'd like to see.

The new higher end product that (might be) out next year won't necessarily be black, but the thought is to have something that looks more upscale than the current lines. Not carbon, but not shiny (or dull) aluminum, either. Obviously we're not trying to look too out there compared to the other players at the price point, but we need something to differentiate our speakers from theirs.

i understand that you want to look different...but really...take all the high end lines right now...theyre all very modest...nothing like the mm124...but i do keep comparing components to subs though...ive always like the collective looks of polk's components...the mm6s would look better without the yellow momo arrow on the dustcap(not just saying b/c it shouldnt be momo, just id rather not have it there)
the all carbon fiber look is sweet...carbon fiber seems to be the "in thing"
plus it matches the 30 WRXs polk has;)
when i said shiny...i meant like the mm6 shiny...its not silvery, just reflects the light a little bit

Carbon fiber is simply the Thom "in thing" ;) That's what makes Polk installs so *custom* and that makes Thom and Josh rock stars.

Boy, that was a kick in the balls. Oh well, at least we get to vote on T-shirts. Does this mean we're not going to get to test out a set of the new speakers at a "discounted" price before you release them? :D

I definitely agree with the idea of looking different than the other guys and I for one dont mind flashy looks. The one thing I do like in appearance is a "softer" look. Take the Diamonds, they look like they would be extremely bright and hard edged simply because they look like it. Whereas the JL's and Momos look very "soft" to me and so I associate them with a smoother sound.

Now of course none of this matters once you actually listen but its still something that I prefer in a speaker.
