Well this weekend i have had the honour of a night in the company of the mighty srt's. I now fully understand what all the fuss about sda technology is about. They sure are something, imaging that nothing comes near to imo. As for bass quality and quantity, wow! After much tweaking and experimenting it was decided that all speaks set to large and run in plain old dolby digital gave better results, bass wise. It all left the poor old radio shack spl meter gasping at the maximum of 128db, now if only i could get my ears to stop bleeding!
THANKS POLK

Did you recently buy a set ? ... And judging from your location, from Brody ? ... or did you just get to hear a set somewhere ?

I met brody for the first time and we went down to his cousins to what we called a "pilgrimage". I had the opportunity to experience them many years ago instore. I was only impressed with the spl levels at that demo. I am thinking that they never had the sda arrays hooked up correctly as the demo on the weekend was just so much better. It probably helped with the fact that they have wired in one of brody;s home-made srt subs to the surr backs. It was kinda interesting hearing the entire room rattling with the sine wave sweep.

    Hi Craig, (and Rick)
It was a great night and lots of fun tweaking Jame's setup, amazing how much a few milimeters can make ey.
I have only one complaint about the weekend, it made me realise how much I miss my old SRTs and the imaging, that book Dave had on making your own SDA type imaging may certainly come in handy yet.
Thanks for being so cool and for the bourbons/wine, (left overs with James), your place next time and we can give that A1sr of yours a kick in the arse, maybe you will become one of the 'like it loud' along with James and I.
I hope your ears are OK and see you soon.
PS. I am happy to have converted another person to 'large' and 'full range' signal all round, I hope you dont get hammered for it......James has been a THX mode guy forever and wasn't really keen on change (dunno if you picked up on that) but he sure is convinced now ey, man that bass through the couch hits you in the back well too, kinda reminds me of when we had both our SRTs set up togeather, ahh, those were the days......
    Take it easy.

    Brody,

I just finished watching Saving Private Ryan in DTS again which I had not seen in awhile and not before with the SRT's ...

I know you said you had them for a long time, but I don't see how you gave them up.

    :(

Yeah, I understand where your coming from, but it's like I had the same sound for so long and I just felt like something different, its true I miss them and sometimes it takes something to be gone before you realise how great it was. There was other factors involved in the decision but I just figured it was time to move on.
I got a very fair price for the SRTs ($9300- NZ) and the time felt right, I advertised them to 'test the water' and next thing I knew they were sold, it really took me by surprise, do I regret it, yes and no, depends when asked really.;)
