Going to see it this evening or tomorrow. The critics are killing it. One of the worst reviewed . Just like Van Helsing which I really enjoyed alot. Once again i know i'm going to be entertained for a couple hours. Not looking for Acadamy Award winning movie here.

Well, I'm set to see this tomorrow afternoon. Maybe by not expecting much at all beforehand, I won't feel so disappointed and cheated afterward. Either way, I'm just too big of a fan of both franchises to wait until rental time.

Critics suck anyhow. They only like artsy-fartsy movies (typically). There needs to be some REAL critics in the world who like guy movies and women criticizing chick flicks. Come on...

Anyhow, Tuesday afternoon I will know and will voice my opinion then...

Ok, saw AVP today with a buddy and my kids. I have to confess, I went in with the attitude that this was going to be one of the worst sequels I'd ever seen, especially with the 13% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, along with other (partial) reviews I read.

However, once again after checking my brain at the door (some people REALLY do have to try this once in a while), I actually thought it was pretty darn good, and will be getting the DVD when it comes out. Now for the caveats...

    (1) Do I put this one in the same category as Alien, Aliens or Predator? Absolutely NOT!

    (2) Do I put this one in the same category as Predator 2? Yes, pretty much, or at least it seemed more "in-line" with this one than the other three.

    (3) Did I enjoy this one more than Predator 2? Absolutely!

So yes, a great popcorn flick, IMO. Others will totally disagree, for sure. Maybe one question should be asked and that is, when watching a movie... "When should you be expected to check your brain at the door vs. when to take it seriously?"

Sure, I think AVP could have been better, perhaps much better, but what's the point? It got made, I watched it and I liked it.

COMPLETELY entertaining! I thought it was actually pretty well done. Sure, there's a lot of flaws that you could rip the movie apart, BUT YOU CAN'T EXPECT OSCAR QUALITY PLOT! This was a fun action movie and nothing more.

Again, sure you can rip it apart on a few aspects. For instance, why can't you ever see their breath? How can the chick at the end only sit there in a long sleeve shirt (no jacket) and not be freezing to death right next to the water? Little details like that were overlooked. DARN!

The plot was actually laid out pretty well. Explained a lot about how they got to this point and what-not. I don't really have any complaints. My only question is... who would you honestly say won? Aliens? Predator? Kinda hard to say. They each had their shining moments so you can't really say there was one distinct winner.
