I've never heard of it. It is the same Philips Corp. from Holland?Political Correctness'.........defined

I think so, those are speaker wires at Walmart
Walmart also has other Philips cable, like digital coax... -
Wamart is the last place I would buy anything audio related....actually, I won't shop there at all. Those effers have ruined far to many other business's and the towns they invade.Political Correctness'.........defined

I will tell you this though, I bought a Phillips 926 CD player from Wal-mart a few years ago when I had my S4s, and I sold them both, still kicking myself...That CD player was one of the best players I have ever heard... -

I was thinking of replacing my HD brand speaker cable non-oxy free for all runs. So I'm trying to keep the $$ down but not being cheap either... I have to run 50ft to my rear right but for my rears I will use 16awg (it's all I can fit under the carpet along the base board (oxy-free from HD is what I will use to keep the cost down) for the fronts...then I will pass on the phillips...go the oxy free HD or might splurge for kimbers....not sure yet !! either 25$ hd for all runs in front or 85$ for kimber....not sure if it's worth the extra cash ??

Half the people will say no, the other half will say yes.
I'm running 12awg (HomeDepot) to the fronts and 16awg (GE) to the rears(for the same reasons you stated).

Do NOT switch your HD wire with some likewise cheap cable just for the sake of switching. IMO, that would be a waste of money. Save for the Kimbers and run them on your mains and center. I don't think you'll notice much of a difference going Kimber to your rears unless you do multi-channel music and even then I'm not sure you would. For the rears I go cheap because of the length and cost.SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070

Hey Willow, I have a friend that is running that Wal-Mart cable on his system. He has an Onkyo 700 and is playing a CSi5 center, RTi10s as fronts, RTi8s as surrounds, and a set of RTi70s as rear surrounds with a psw505 sub. This sounds pretty damn good to me. Give it try. It won't cost you too much. I laughed at him until I heard it.:D Hell I wish I had found it first instead of monster. I need to replace my surround wires and that may be the way to go.Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus
Bedroom: Panasonic 50" S2 Plasma and Panasonic BD65 blu-ray player, Onkyo TX-SR707, Emotiva XPA-3, Emotiva UPA-2, KEF IQ7's, IQc, IQ8Ds, and SVS PB10-ISD -
thanks.....I am leaning towards Kimber right now but I don't like that I must buy in order to try and I don;t know if the price will be worth the difference...if it only sounds a tadd better then I lost out on some cash but if its 10x better than yes it's good !!!

Willow,
Shop around on Audiogon for some used Kimber or whatever brand you're thinking about. That way if you don't like it, you can resell it with little or no loss.

I own high price monster cable, and I'll tell ya I'll never buy it again.I rerouted my wire when I bought my sub,had some homdepot wire myself, decided to use it,absolutely no difference!I would recomend,Phillips,RCA,or even popular mechanics speaker wire.

I did my system #2with 12Ga speaker wire from Home depot after seeing the posts here. The speakers did not sound as good as I thought they should. I replaced the Mains with some 20 year old Monster Cable I had in my "spares" box and it was considerable improvement. I biwired the center using 14ga & 16ga wire from HD (it was better than the 12ga single). The rears were wired through the walls (before the walls went up) so I left them as is until a week ago. I replaced the 12ga HD wire with Monster XP-CI and they sounded much better. I did one speaker first (2 1/2 hours..) so I could a A/B comparison. After being pleased with the results I did the other...
I'm now going to replace the Center probably with some sort of Monster Cable Bi-wire... -
Have you given the HD wire a chance to burn in?SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070

I thought you meant from the posts in this thread.
I'd say yeah, 3 years should be long enough.SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070

I replaced the HD 14AWG in my bedroom system with my old monster sp 16AWG and I thought it had a more full sound...I got the ok from my wife to buy new cables for the main system but I was thinking that 80-100$ on speaker cables just for the fronts might seem to be buying too much (for kimbers)....maybe Im just being cheap right now...it seems I can;t justify spending that amount of cash on speaker cables...to maybe find now difference !!
not sure what to do.I know I am replacing this weekend the rear cables with some 16awg oxy free cables, not sure by who yet ...I need 100FT monster is too $$ for the lenght I need so I think I will go the HD oxy free. I am running 18awg rca brand cables very cheap !! -
Pick up some Carol SuperFlex 12ga from Home Depot ($.44/ft) or PartsExpress and don't look back.
