I'd much rather build my own. It's like Tim Taylor says " If you didn't build it, it's not really yours".

I usually find I have to adapt things like this to my application or taste anyways, so I'd rather just start from scratch and save a few bucks.

Seal up the bottoms real well, and leave some holes on the pipes up top, so you can get your sand / cat litter on.

    Looking good!

    Cheers,

    Hi Codey,

    Very nice.

How did you go about attaching the PVC to the top and base?

    Thanks.

The narrow piece of pipe in the center is housing a length of all thread with a nut in the top and bottom piece, which also have seats cut for the pipes. So the top and bottom clamp the pipes in place.

I have go out of town for work in a few hours, so hopefully I'll be able to finish them and post pictures and more detailed instructions by next weekend.

Make sure to leave a couple holes to run the speaker wire up through a pipe!

    Stands are looking good......

I don't know that I'd necessarily make a stand that exactly fits the base of the speaker, because should you decide to upgrade, you have to retro the stand. As evidenced by this thread in the first place, you probably wouldn't mind that...

    Good job!!

    Hi bigeyed,

    Thanks for the compliment.

My new home theater will be all Polk Audio except for the subwoofers. I'm collecting ideas on speaker stands. I'll need a short stand about a foot tall that tilts upward for the lower center channel. I'll need to build some sort of arrangement that hangs from the ceiling and tilts downward for the upper center channel. I'm also thinking about raising my floorstanding SDA-1Cs 12" to 18". I know they have a tendency to tip so I've got to think this out carefully. Two of the columns that hide my surrounds will also hide compact subwoofers. I plan on building a pedestal arrangement inside the column to mount the subwoofer about midway up the wall.

Anyway all this speaker raising will call for various approaches to speaker stands. All of the speakers will be hidden so stability is more important than looks.

With regard to the diagrams and drawings, they were done with Microsoft Visio.
