Need Subwoofer Cables

Hey Guys,

Any idea where I can get some good quality, but not too expensive cables. Monster cables are good, but I am not sure they are worth the money. I need the following:

DVI Cable: 15-20 ft.
Subwoofer Cable: 20-25 ft.

I checked out BetterCables.com, but they are as expensive as Monster. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The entry level cables from Monster are about base-line price for quality cables. May want to try Wal-Mart????
Just walk into CC/BB and find a price your happy with!!! Simple...

NP, keep in mind that any cable with an RCA plug on each end(whether or not it's labeled a "subwoofer cable")works. Generally a shielded coaxial cable is suggested and here's a reasonably priced one. Th same source has the DVI cable at a good price.

This is the one I use on my #2 system, I can't say the M Series Monster cable on my #1 system is any better.

    But I never tried a A/B comparison...

Subwoofer dosnt matter, you can use a stock pos cable as long as its shielded.

the difference between a stock pos rca cable and a nice rca cable is pretty big though, especially when you are using it for a subwoofer hookup. i just went from a rat shack rca cable to a straight wire rca cable and the difference is huge. bass is louder, tighter and deeper with the new cable. the bass also seems to fill the room alot better with the newer cable.

i would suggest you dont skimp on the sub cable.

The biggest difference you can make for a subwoofer is a freakin y-splitter.

You wanna talk about an improvement?? that'll do it...

Or you could use speaker wire and forget all that cable mess ;)

RG-6 satellite coax with RCA plugs... it does a great job and it's CHEAP.

i can buld you one just like frank from sigonal will do it for 40 bucks for time and effort. and i am not sure on shiping cost. i use this same cable for my sub and it is about 35 feet long. the olny thing is it is a 75 ohm cable. but it sounds great and i used it for my parents sub too. if you want to tell me why a 75 ohm cable is bad i would like that.

As stated above, try straightwire, I use the straightwire chorus for my subs and did a test a few years ago and found it to outperform many of the more expensive cables such as dedicated sub monster cable, you can buy it by the meter and terminate it with straightwire plugs, if you cant solder yourself it is a 10 minute job for a techy to do, much cheaper and better value for money and it looks good too.

    trey,
im not really sure if you were talking to me but the straight wire cable isn't the one with the y splitter. im using a monster cable with a t splitter in it right now. the straight wire cable was a regular rca that i just used for the sub. no y splitter. i hooked it up with only one of the inputs.

You can buy the splitters as well, straightwire as far as I know dont make pre made one into two let alone at the lengths required for subs, thats why it is great to be able to silver solder your own and you can do a better job than that of most pre terminated cables. Straightwire chorus is a great cable at an even better price and works well with sub signals, I got a 3 db gain when I changed to it myself, good indication of cable quality and it is silver coated......

I know there is better, but at what cost??? Like I said above I did a test of some known brand cables at up to the $40per meter mark and found chorus came out on top, thats the only reason why I bought it as I needed 36 meters didnt want to go to hard out on the price per meter thing, from memory about $10- $12-(US) per meter.
