DS7200 multi-room feature
I am a bit confused. I recently purchased the Polk DS7200 system. I am definitely a newbie when it comes to audio, so hence my confusion. I'd like to take advantage of the multi-room feature of the DS7200 to run some speakers out to my patio. The manual says that I can use the powered Polk Atrium speakers or another set of speakers along with an integrated amp. Now my confusion is do I need an amp regardless of the speakers I choose, or the fact that the Atrium speakers are powered, does that mean these run without an amp. I'd hate to sound like a fool but what does it mean that the Atriums are powered? I really don't want to sink a whole lot of money into these speakers that will be used infrequently. In fact I was think of a set of wireless speakers like the RCA970.
P.S. Ken from Polk answered my initial question on this matter, but I was still confused, that's why I posted here. Thanks in advance.

The Atrium 45p is a self powered speaker, internally amplified. No amp needed. I would avoid wireless speakers if at all possible.
I think they stopped making this model, but it can still be found on the internet. Do a search, they run in the $300 range.

Good luckCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Kinda weird that the Atrium 45p's are listed as for indoor use in that press release.

Good catch, and that's true. Perhaps they wouldn't be a great idea in this case.
I mounted a pair at a friends house and just tucked them nicely under the soffit for protection, weatherproofed the connections....been running for 2.5 years so far....and the house hasn't burned down yet eitherCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Thanks for the reply, but I am still stuck. The outputs for the multi-room feature are RCA type, not binding posts, so I am guessing I need something between the speakers and the back of the receiver. I asked the salesperson at Circuit City if the Atriums have some sort of special RCA type connector and he said they are just plain binding type.
