I recently have been offered to help myself to a supply of marble and granite. Since it will be free I was thinking of some projects I could do. Maybe a componnent stand or slab to go underneath my subs? Any of you have a different project idea that can let me utilize free granite or marble? Thanks people.
btw I wasn't sure where to put this thread so I stuck it here because of the componnent stand.

I think you nailed it on what your options are.....do you have access to the finishing tools to smooth the edges etc or is it going to be rough cuts?comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

Ok it looks like i'll have to look into a design of a rack or something like that ..... I'm pretty sure the rock will be mostly rough since they are taking apart this building downtown and a friend of mine says they are throwing all the granite, marble and everything else they take out away.... such a shame since the stuff is so damn expensive. It will be coming off the walls floors and everything else made of the stuff so I'm not sure of the condition of it. I haven't quite worked out the tools required and where I can get them but I will look into it. Thanks for the reply.

A wet table saw will do pretty smooth cuts on marble. You can get them for about $150 CDN at Home Depot, Rona, Tile stores etc.Graham

Yea thats sort of what I was thinking... My dad is a former hd employee (worked in the tool department) and says you can get a crap one for about $80 or get into the better ones for $200. I might just see if I can get it cut or rent one... might save me a lot of money since I don't see myself using a wet table saw again in the near future.
