In Regards to "Good Polk Forum Buyers & Sellers"

I think that this has been somewhat mentioned in that thread, but is it possible to have a forum for the purpose of giving props or negatives to good or bad forum sellers/buyers?

It could be read only...and administrator only for replies/edits. Just put down the users name as the thread title. Then when a transaction goes through...have those people PM or Email the Admin and paste that PM or Email as a reply in the respective members thread.

Maybe this is asking for too much for too little benefit, but I think it would be a good idea. It would also make it much easier for people to find the good buyers and sellers on Club Polk. What do you guys think?

Justin? I think you'd be the one to ask because it might be more work than you're willing to do. Maybe you could allow one of our more trusting members here to handle it if they were willing?

Actually we'd just need a subforum in the Flea Market. One thread per person. When you do a transanction, you find that person's name (or start a new one if none exists) and write your feedback.

This would minimize the need for admin and it seems to work well for AK.

That's what I meant. Sorry if I was confusing in how I said it. I do think we still need it to be controlled by a mod or admin though. Just because too many threads will be too polluted with stuff that has nothing to do with a persons selling/buying status. Maybe not?

There will be some changes made to the forum and this is that will be on the table. Justin and I will try to figure our the easiest and most efficient way to show if some one is a good buyer and seller. Feedback like Ebay would be the best way but that might be a little too much work for the amount of benefit. Maybe something similar but a little scaled down. Unfortunetly, there is no way of checking if the transactions happend. If someone has some concrete idea please let me know. (post them here) I'll be thinking about it too. It seems like a cool project.

well, i'm definitely not a software guy so i don't know if this is worth anything but here's my idea.

as you said, feedback is a little too much, but just a list confirming past transactions would be good.

how about each person has an additional two fields in their profile. One for "Sellers" and one for "Buyers". In the Sellers field, they input screen names for people they have bought from and in the Buyers they input screen names for people that have bought from them.

Then behind the scenes, you just have a script that checks for matching pairs, that the seller and buyer both listed each other in the correct spot.

Once correctly "matched", just have the "matched" lists of buyers and sellers listed in each person's profile.

what do you think? with just the names, you would only have one name per person, but if you wanted to make it more complicated, you could also include a link to the Flea Market thread which involved the transaction so that the people checking up on others would have further information/proof.

the only possible problem i could think of would be people creating bogus accounts to create fake matches. but this could easily be prevent just by not allowing matches to come from the same IP.
