Do the timbres match the:
RT1000i's
f/x300i's
Present Center Channel: CS245i
Or should I just wait for a good sale on the CS400i?
Is that line going to be obselete?
Thanks!

You should look for a CS400i if you plan on upgrading. This will match the 1000's you have in the front. You would have the same system I have and it sounds great.

The rt1000i's have 6.5" drivers.
The cs245i has 5.25 drivers.
The cs 400 has the same 6.5 drivers as the 1000's.
If you want a seamless match get the cs400.
Which btw may not be current for long, but will never be obsolete.
The fx300i's share the same 5.25 driver as the cs245i, but since very little if any dialogue comes out of them, it won't matter that they're different than your front stage.

You can make your current cs245 your REAR center,
in which case, it will match your rear stage,
(fx300's) exactly.

Sorry no can do on the rear center with the 245i. Though it did cross my mind. 1) No money, I must trade in the 245i and get the 400i. Hoping to get a decent price on it, since I bought all my stuff from this place. 2) Only have a DTS-ES matrix receiver. No DTS-ES discrete, so it wouldn't make that much of a difference.
Thanks for all you help. -
lax: I have a 245 and am consitering either the 800s or the 1000s, and if you think about it, both towers acually use the 6.5 drivers, and the 800 has two. If you go to the recommended setup on the speaker pages, they recommend those sets with both the 245 and 400. I wound say it boils down to how powerful your reciever is, and how big your listening area is. If you're boasting over 100 watts a channel, the 400 would be better I think.
But you could probably sell your center for a decent amount, and get the 400 which is about $240 right now.

I just got it and boy is it more full! I traded in my CS245i for $200 and received a brand new (not to mentioned discontinued) CS400i. The thing is huge!! I have a feeling I am going to have to mount it on the back wall or I need a bigger TV. Seriously though, the speaker hangs off the back of my TV and takes up about 65% of the space on top. I have started to calibrate it and it works well. So far so good!

were'd you trade in the 245?

At my local store, Graffiti Audio. I argued him up from $75.00 off the original price to $200 off because I bought the CS245i under the Circuit City plan. The CC plan is turn in any speaker you bought within the year and they will give you a full credit towards new speakers. Since these guys say they match CC, they had to do it. Plus I have spent over $1200 there. Though not a lot for them, I at least showed that I was loyal to them.

you have a year to turn in any speaker towards a new one at cc? and they give you full value??
****, I may get the 400 then!

I would go now, the CS400i is in limited stock because of the new models. If you are serious, I would decide before this weekend. Or at least call CC and have them hold you one (if they have one left). And if the sales representive gives you ****, ask for the manager. The Trade-In is a CC company wide program.
Just watch Fifth Element SB, and the speaker really opens up the front channels. Thought the thing looks like a monster on the front of my TV! -
Hey lax, how's the 400 going with the 1000s? I'm thinking I'm going to get this setup tommorow! Trade in my 245 for the 400 and pic up the 1000s (probably!).
What does everyone think is a better match for the 400, the 800s or the 1000s?

the cs400i will match either the 800's or 1000's equally. i think you will be happy with either set-up you upgrade to. i run 800's with the 400 and it sounds amazing! i preffered the 800's to the 1000's wen i was choosing, took a little while to decide the winner, but the 800's it was. just my opinion though. i think both the 800's and 1000's make great fronts!!!
