Which version of The Exorcist do you prefer? Original or Director's Cut?

I love both, but I could have done without some of the subliminal imagery in the new one. For example, the shots of Captain Howdy in the kitchen, and Karras' mom in the window. The deleted scenes and alternate ending were fantanstic, though.

Original all the way..of course that was the one I stood in line in the freezing cold to see back in 1973

My father saw it back in '73. I remember him telling me that he and his sisters drove 70 miles to see it. Scared the s*** out of them lol. That night(and many nights after that) he had to put a chair under the doorknob to the door that led to the basement. Scary thing is was that the door to his basement was in his bedroom...To quote Dana Carvey, "Scary!"

I saw the original on DVD, before the new version came out, but the DVD had the new scenes as supplemental material, and I really liked the little conversation between the priests on the stairs outside the room. Max von Sydow's character was so great, any added screen time for him is a good choice. I think the new one probably has some good things, some things that could have been left out. Apocalypse Now is the same way, the Redux has some excellent new footage, but most of it could have been left out (the scene with the French is too long and makes the film lose focus, and the scene with the Playboy Bunnies is just plain weird). I'm on the fence about director's cuts. Some work out well (Aliens, LOTR EE's, T-2), but others don't work out so well at all.
