Saturday, I went to Knott's Berry Farm. The last time I was there was back in the mid-80's. They've add a few new rides, but the highlight of the day and worth the price of admission alone, Xcelerator

From a dead stop this coaster launches you out of the station and in 2.3 seconds you are at 82 mph and heading straight up at a 90 degree angle. During the climb, the vehicle rotates to the outside of the track and then over the top at a total height of 205' and then back down at another 90.

Standing there, in the station watching this thing go was incredible. My anxiety level was off the chart. What an awesome experience.

Here's a pic.

    Looks like fun.

I thought this was going to be an exotic coaster for your beer to keep it cold. ;)

That ride DEFINITELY kicks ****!!!!!! I rode it about 4 times in a row and while you're standing in line watching those people get launched, YOUR stomach starts racing just at the thought of getting your turn........probably the best thing they have goin on there at Knotts......

Cedar Point is the best Coaster PArk in the US, period.
I haven't been there in years, and I cant wait till I go back to Ohio to visit so I can go back.

First time I've ever heard anyone say they can't wait to go back to Ohio.;)

I live about 2 hours (if that) from The Point, you're right, it rocks. Ohio seems to be coaster crazy, we got Cedar Point in Sandusky, Geauga Lake in Aurora, and Kings Island in Cincinnatti.

Ah....the home of The Beast! The longest and fastest and IMO one of the best wooden coasters ever built!

I always liked the Beast because it goes all thru the trees. You rarely see that. Most rolly coasters are on a giant empty field or concrete slab. The Beast is a good one.....

Not always.. If you ride a wooden roller coaster that has been built recently most of them are smoother than their steel counterparts imo, but that may be due to their lack of loops (the woodie at six flags in maryland is very smooth) whereas if anyone has ridden drachen fire at busch gardens and less-so outer-limits flight of fear at kings dominion, those are two steel coasters that are brutally harsh

If you like wood coasters, you need to visit Knoebels Grove in Elysburg, PA (pretty much in my backyard). They have The Twister and the Phoenix.

    Down here at Carowinds...

We have a wooden coaster called the Hurler...

This is a pretty good roller coaster speed wise, but man it tears my knees up like no other! Mainly because I am tall and my legs bang around in the short cars...

We also have Thunderroad, another wooden one - that is ONE fast ride...pretty sweet!

I have been to Knoebels..great park, but I have also been to visit the Beast in Ohio. No comparison. The beast is the best wooden coaster I ever rode. I do prefer the metal ones, cause I love to corkscrew, and go upside down and all that groovy stuff, but woodens have their unique appeals and the Beast is a mega classic!
