when mesuring the sound of the sub is it -3db higher or lower then what the meter reads?

It depends on the frequency the receiver is playing, but adding 3 dB should be fine.Graham

I am sure this is what you meant Gatemplin, but to have an even calibration, your sub should be set 2-3 dB below what you set your other speakers at. That being said, many calibrate their subs higher than that for movies.
