Tell me about the cops. I just got nailed today doing 67 in a 55. 2 freaking miles over!! I was in my work truck which is a piece and its governed at 65 and ridiculously underpowered so I usually just put my foot on the floor and go. I was coming down a hill and he nailed me.

Im going to fight this one tho. It was in a commercial vehicle and Ive got a CDL. If this goes on my record it will be way hard for me to get a truck driving job for the next 3 years so Im gonna go throw myself on the mercy of the court and see if the judge will cut me some slack. This is the first ticket Ive had since 92 and the very first one Ive ever had since driving for a living back in 97.

Anyways, howd the trip go Cody?

Yeah they figured out we drive hundreds of miles a day and so will be a great source of revenue.

A cop can pull you over and "inspect" your truck at any time without probable cause. Any little tiny violation and they can park your truck indefintely! It sucks, your totally helpless.

California is the worst. They are so anit-trucker its silly!

$1500 fines for incomplete log books!!!!!!!!!! And they will make you park for 8 hours til they are caught up (must have 8 hours rest for every 10 hours driving)
$600 fines for speeding 11 mph over limit!!!!!!!!!!!
$1000 fines for any speeding 15 over limit!!!!!!!

    Miller Lite/ Coors Light

Sucky job! Loooooooooooooooong hours and hard work. Good money though.

The only good thing is I deliver to grocery stores. I dont drive one of those squatty side loaders, I have a full size trailer and just back up to the stores dock. Then go in and pull the beer off with a pallet jack. This way Im not outdoors getting rained on or sweating to death.

However Im looking for one of those sweet trucking jobs where all you do is drive. No unloading or heavy lifting. Just drive and make $17/hr! :)

Thats why Ive got to fight this ticket. If it stays on my record I wont be able to get a decent job for 3 years!

Well, Ive got a Panasonic am/fm radio. Wooppee!

This truck is 15 years old and way overdue for retirement.

When I lived in Texas I drove for a beer company that gave me a new International. It had a 450 hp Cummins, 18 spd tranny, am/fm/cassette, cold a/c and cruise control! Man this thing was as comfy as my Beloved Dodge!

But of course that was a real company that actually spent money to have quality equipment.

Dude, Cat and Cummins makes em as high as 600 hp and 2500 ft/lbs of torque!!!

Most of them on the road are 450 though but with 1300-1800 ft/lbs of torque!

These things are freaking awesome! As long as theyve got traction, there isnt anything they cant pull!

As far as hauling ****, well theyre pulling 80,000 lbs so they wont be going that fast. It also depends on the tranny. You get a 13 or 18 speed and you can move pretty good. A 10 isnt quite as fast.

    A little bit.

Now those little trucks like the ones you see pulling those sideloader trailers from Bud or Miller are around 200 hp with 700 or so ft/lbs. They are only rated around 40-50,000 lbs gross where the big daddys can EASILY handle 40 tons!

Ive got lots of storys about these monsters pulling fully loaded trailers with the brakes locked, over huge curbs, whatever. The big tractors are virtually unstoppable!

Thats why I got into driving in the first place. I love these things.

hmm...i guess i was thinking of the smaller trucks
i got passed in Utah by a big rig...i was topping my truck out at 100(fuggin governor)...he passed me up like i was standing still...i would say he was going about 150mph...no trailer of course

If you own your own rig, you wont have a governor so you can go as fast as you want. Bobtailing like that is very dangerous tho. Those things are made to have a load. It actually takes LONGER for them to stop when empty then when loaded!

Those brakes are awesome too. You pull the air on them going 70 mph with 80,000 lbs and they will lock up instantly! Impressive!

If he wants one like is on a big rig youre gonna need a pretty big compressor.

You can get one from AutoZone and other parts stores. Ive had one on my Suzuki Samurai back around 95. It sounded like a Ferrari horn.
