Ok i have the Rotel 980 amp 120@8... Have the dynakit 70 35@any ohms (Iguess)
Just at a corssroads for my 2 channel rig here. Been thinking to much on this lately.. do i want the tube although it sounds great, it makes the room incredibly hot... I like the Rotel, although its jusr standard equipment to me and sound good, but nothing wow or anything.. so this isnt a quality issue.. Just what is best? for me, only i can say that.. however.. I could sell the dyna and Rotel and have a pretty nice SS amp... Ive kicked around the thought of Sda's and have a local deal in the works possibly for some SDA crs's... with stands.. I have the lsi7's out here now and they sound great, but inefficiant for the tube amp.. and not loud enough for my taste most of the time... tried the rti38's out here and the rt25's... both sound good, but nothing that moves you.. I mean my Ht is pretty nice sounding and i can get equal sound from that, and it has a nice sub to go with it.. so is anyone else in my shoes?? what to do, what to do? speakers... amps, what ya all think? at this point! Let me know

LOL, man Cliff just cant get rid of that bug can ya . I say sell the 7's, tubey and rotel and get those SDA's and a badass amp. You have gotten the taste of the Vintage Polks might as well fulfill that urge Or you can just buy a wall unit AC to put in that room to cool of that Hot **** D-Kit

That tube amp will do massive things with a pair of 1C's or better. I can tell you from experience it cannot do much with the LSi7's. As a matter of fact it should sound pretty pathetic in comparison. Personally I think you are in too big of a hurry and it would be a shame to not try the tube amp with some decent SDA's before you unload it.

I know, your right... The lsi's don't sound all that on the tubes. pauls Monitor 10's were cooking on that tube amp.. I mean they were sounding good and plenty loud. i need larger speakers for sure, question is, should i sell the 7's and try for these local Sda crs's? Certainly i have to sell to buy.. like when i got the tube amp.. Thanks for the suggestionsMY HT RIG:

Sell the 7's and Buy the Local's (SDA;s)...PERFECT TRADE!
The 7's were good while they lasted...Just think how that room will be BuMpINg!!!

The CRS will certainly be more in line with the tube amp as far as loudness goes. Of course they will not play loud concert levels like the 1.2's do with tubes.

for kicks, I have the Rti70's hooked to the dyna, Big difference... louder, sound great! Yes to find a set of sda 1's or 2's would be great, local to save on shipping and fatality would be even better. It doesnt have to be concert levels.. except when showing off, BUT i do like it louder then the 7's for sure...MY HT RIG:

You said the tubes were too hot. Any way to put an exhaust duct close to them to pull the hot air outside? I know what you are saying because my two mono blocks have a total of 8 tubes and when you turn them on the AC runs continuously. Nice in the cold winter months here.Vinyl, the final frontier...

That's going to be tough. You should try to restore the amp before thinking about selling it. Like others have mentioned, you should try to look for some speakers that will mate well with the amp. Never tried SDA on mine before though. If you must get rid of the amp because of the heat problem, you can look for a tube pre and use your SS amp.

Doesn't that pre have dual outputs? The more the merrier I always say. When I have my ST-70 going I use a pre that has dual outs with a larger SS connected to the other side. It works great for me.Make it Funky!

If you like the 70's more, maybe you should look at getting speakers and sell the LSi and Rotel.
What's the rush? Patience is key. I know we all want it NOW but you just got that amp (at pretty much a steal), give yourself some time to build on it.SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070
