How is the TV signal supplied ? via dish ? cable ? antenna ?
If by antenna does your TV have audio out jacks ? -
I have cable

If your cable box has a digital output (Toslink) connect it to your receiver and make sure the the input is turned on via your OSD. Depending on your receiver, you may need to select which digital input to use for the TV.

Does your TV have audio out jacks ?

Yes it does

Ok ... well then you should be able to run RCA's from the output jacks of the TV to input jacks on your receiver and then get sound through your sound system.
