Looking for amp

I am looking for a replacement amp. Have a Proton 1AA-1150 that is 50w RMS 8ohm with -6 db headroom. It's driving a pair of SDA-1b and SDA 2c (I always forget which one has the b or c after it). They have been always wired in parellel making it a 2 ohm load at the amp. The Proton has delevoped problems at lower listening levels and I'm finally ready to replace it.

I'm open to new or used and it will be used almost entirely for music. My budget is under $700.

I was going to suggest this:

    HCA1000A

But a 2 ohm load is pretty extreme even for the better high current amps out there. Good luck!

PS I think you would like the tubes spastic suggested on those speakers though (dont worry Russ is one of the gurus around these parts, he can be trusted).

You need a special amp for this and I happen to own just what you need.

While being fairly small and very sexy-looking, the EC BDM aw75 has two huge toroids and puts out an unwaivering 60amps and can deliver steady loads into 1 ohm. Now how many 75watt solid state amplifiers today can boast that??!!

This one is 8 yrs old, but looks and plays like new. Retailed for $2999 with the upgraded toroids. It would have to sell slightly higher than your budget, but I am very reasonable.

Let me know if you would like to discuss further.

    M.

PS. I have a photo of it, but the file was too big to post and I wasn't able to reduce the file size, so pm me with your email address and I can send it to you that way instead.

I'd suggest getting a used 5 channel home theater amp like a Rotel RMB-1075 or an older Parasound multi-channel model. The Rotel can be found for around $700, but usually a little higher right now.
