what speakers would you guys reccomend? they need to be 6.5" and 2 way, 3 way isnt necessary because there will be a sub in the car. money is an issue so some good speakers for not alot of cash would be great.

Focal Polyglass $350-400
Diamond Audio M661s $360
Polk Audio MM6 $300
MB Quart Reference $330
JL Audio XR $350-380
These are my favorite speakers. Theyre not in order cause I change my mind almost daily as to my favorite! For example, if I had to buy my speakers today, Id get the Quarts. But tomorrow I would probably buy the JLs. Im as bad as a woman! LOLpolkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

im sure those are nice speakers, but they are alittle too expensive, is there anyway to get good speakers for around $100?

Ouch. Thats gonna be a little difficult.
There are these Pioneers for $130. Dont know how good theyll sound though.
There is also these Clarion components for $120 but only handle 40 watts so I bet these wont be that great either.
Its gonna be hard to get a good quality component set for less than $200 unless you go to Ebay and snag a set of used or remanufactuered jobs.
If you could go up to $200 you would be entering a whole other level of performance. For instance you could get the Polk DB comps, JBL GTO series or a set of Infinity Reference comps. All of these are very good speakers and can handle some power. They arent high end but are a lot better than most coaxials of higher prices and tons better than a set of $100 comps.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Austin, i appreciate the offer greatly but the speakers are for my friends car. He is most definitely not the brightest crayon in the box and wouldn't understand a deal like that. Not to mention he's not going to have the money until the Beginning of September. Its much easier for him to buy things from a store, instead of having to deal with sending money to you.
If they were for my car, i would definitely take you up on your offer however. -
Ill second the DB vote. They are very good performers especially when you factor in the price.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

what's wrong with coaxes at this price level? say, the db650 at crotchfield for $99? plus a second pair for $50 if you've got another friend...It's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon

I just think that components will pretty much always sound better than coaxials. Plus you get the added benefit of being able to aim your tweeters a lot better and thus increasing your SQ quite a bit.
Only a goober would buy components and then mount them coax! j/k Neopolkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

hey! i am a damn proud goober, then!
yeah, comps sound better, but getting them for $100, i'd think that getting good coaxes would sound better than getting bad compsIt's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon
