How's the sound quality and multi-channel mix of the SACD
of Yellow Brick road? Is it the same mix as the dvd audio?
Thanks, Mike

GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD is one of the albums that I have owned for ever, since it came out in fact back in 1974. When the SACD came out I bought it immeadiately and I fell in love with this classic album all over. I have only heard the 5.1 mix of the SACD, I have never heard the stereo mix, but the 5.1 mix is really, really smooth and nice sounding. I have heard the DVD-A 5.1 also and the 2 seem identical. I have also read in many places that the two mixes (SACD and DVD-A) are the same mix, just put on a different format disc.

    Rocky,
Thanks for the info, I ordered the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road SACD, can't wait to hear it! Goodbye Yellow Brick Road came out
when I was in high school and I played Funeral for a friend till the album wore out. The whole album is fantastic, one of the best
    double albums ever IMO.

    HBomb,
Elton's one of my favorites too, I've seen him live several
times and he always puts on a fantastic show. I was
at his Dodger stadum show in the mid 70's where he
played for nearly 4 hours, it was incredible. His 'One night
only' dvd is excellent but I wish he would release one
of his mid 70's concerts on dvd.

According to Universal, several other Elton John albums are slated for the 5.1 surround treatment, including MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER, TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION and a couple more, (but not DON'T SHOOT ME, which is one of my favorites).

According to Elton's official website....the classic albums are set to be released on SACD on 10/26/2004.

Edit: The next few months will get expensive on the SACD front....EJ, the Moody Blues, Genesis, etc....
