RTi 8 or the 10...???
Ok, I have a chance to pick up the 8's but wanted to know if the extra $40 each for the 10's would be worth it? Also, I'll be getting the FXi 3's.
CC has some blow out prices so I'll be helping myself to some fronts and surrounds tomorrow.
I know the 10's have a bit more bass but I will be mainly using my set up for HT and I already have a sub.
Thanks,

Burnzy,
Have you had a chance to listen to both? When I purchased my RTi8's I listened to both the 8s and the 10s. I thought the 8's had better mids and high. Since you already have a sub, I would stay with the 8s. Either way you will be happy. -
A couple of reasons to get the 10's come to mind for me:
Will you ever be using the mains for music only w/o a sub? If so, buy the 10's since they have better bass.
Since you have a relatively small sub, setting the mains to large may help with HT bass impact.
The only drawback that I see to having 10's is that your 2801 may be pushed closer to its power limits with the larger woofers.
I know that in my quest for great HT I always seem to buy the most I can afford, since I tend to upgrade later anyway.
Either really will do nicely with what you have now,

Skippy,
No, I haven't had the chance to listen to them both, side by side. From what I've read on this forum, everybody seems to agree that the 8's are better for the mid's and high's.
The room is not that big but for the price, I'm thinkin' 10's. In the future, I plan to use the pre-outs on the Denon and add seperate amps for the front & center channels (possilbly Outlaws) then use the Denon to power the surrounds.
Dennis,
I do use it to listen to two channel every now and then when I get a chance. And Like I said I plan on adding amps, so maybe I'll get the 10's.

Ok, I got the 8's and the FXi 3's. I really didn't have that much of a budget but for the prices, I just couldn't pass these up.
After calling several CC's in the area and getting drastically different closeout prices from each I finally found a deal. I went to the CC in Northridge, CA. Here are the deals I got:
RTi 8 = $148.99 ea. NIB.
FXi 3 = $159.99 for the pair. Open Box, some scratches at the bottom.
They still had two pair, one NIB, other Open box of the RTi8's.
RTi 10 = $189 ea. NIB. I think two pairs left and the floor models.
RTi 12 but didn't ask the price or how many left, they did have the floor models though.
If you go tell em' you were quoted these prices by John, otherwise you will be charged what the shelf tag reads. For instance when I got there this morning, John wasn't in yet and they tried to charge me $209.99 for the OB pair of the FXi3's. I told them John had quoted me a price of $159 for the pair and that's what they charged me.SYSTEM

What a steal !
I paid $349 ea about 2 months ago  . I was about to return them to Fry's, but at my local CC they were dumping only floor models and they don't have the cherry finish .
