...marked the top of my desk where my computer speakers provide the best imaging so that if they get moved, I can readjust them without a problem?

Not only are you a geek, you're an anal geek...LOL. It's all good, my wife laughs at me for using the tape measure for my speaker placement in the livingroom...guilty as charged.

A real geek would mount them permantley to the desk, with little neoprene pads inbetween to help isolate bad vibes.

Have you opened them up yet, and upgraded the wire, and damped the cabs? You might want to dope the woofs, right around the dustcap a bit, to help cone breakup at higher volumes.

Hell, you might as well pull the drivers, and put them in custom cabs while you're at it. Maybe even run an infinate baffle config and mount them in the wall behind your desk.

If there is any crossover at all, you'll want to upgrade it, and look into modifying it to include a zobel on the midbass / fr driver. We don't want those nasty impedance spikes now, do we?

Geek, hardly. You haven't even reached pocket protector status.

    Cheers,
    Russ
