Round 1....

I read lots of posts here about people that were listening to their music in analogue. Why is that ? Do you get better sound ? Is it better to listen to music in analogue with certain kinds of music or when listening in stereo ?

Do most of you guys use analogue or digital settings ?

I have a Sony DA50ES receiver and a Sony CA80ES CD player. When I got the player I also got a Monster Cable Lightspeed (optical) digital cable to hook it up to my receiver. I used that for awhile until I started buying somewhat fancy interconnects. I got a pair of MIT 330 interconnects and decided to compare those to the digital connection on my CD player. The analogue output through the MIT cable definitely sounded better. It just had a larger, more open sound stage. Now I use my CD player with my separates system which is all analogue. I really think the answer to your question depends highly on the DAC (and also make sure you use a a coax cable). If you run a digital out to a fancy DAC, then yeah, it will most likely sound better.

I had my Yammie cd665 for about 5yrs before I realized what that digital plug was for in the back. I have been using it ever since. going from analog to digital was a huge difference. I had some pretty good analog cables too... :
The highs were way more detailed
    Definatly a cleaner signal
There are probably couple of others..but cant put finger on it.

I'd never go back to analog on my cd source...but that is me

    Oh

Well, i have a Denon 3802 and a cheap 54 mhz 10 bit video Panasonic Progressive scan DVD player. I also have a optical Monster cable going from one to the other. But i have a spare set of good RCA monster cable and i was wondering if i was better off listening to music in the good old analogue setting ?
And why should i use a coaxial cable ?

If you're using a cheap DVD player, my guess is that the digital output would sound better. The DAC in the Denon is very likely of higher quality. Who knows, though. Give it a whirl. Coax is generally said to be superior to optical. My CD player only has optical so I can't vouch personally.

i use a nice monster opti cable for my cd (had a realy nice analog cable) and i too would not go back.. the highs just sound brighter and crisper (i l  ve strong highs ) the mids and bass feel tighter and cleaner..i went back and forth with the cables comparing until it all started to sound the same

So is coaxial analog or is it also digital? This has always confused the hell out of me.
