I would really like to keep my 1.2tls without the covers, but each driver is pretty tacky and I'm afraid that dust will stick to them and I won't be able to keep them clean. Is this normal that they are tacky? I really love the look without the fronts, but not at the risk of dust sticking to the drivers and not being able to keep them clean.

Thanks!

The drivers on my Monitor 10A's are the same way. They already have a few hairs stuck to them that will have to be removed with tweezers because I can't pick them off with my fingernails.

The CRS+'s are the same way ...

Hmmm ... Never thought I'd refer to SDA's as tacky ;)

So it seems this is kind of normal. Bummer! I really want to leave them exposed! They are very impressive visually as well as sonically! Too bad the drivers are on the sticky side.

Well soundwise, they are not tacky, but to the touch, they sure are! Hahaha! :)

Guess I'll just expose them when needed (to impress others), then cover them up the rest of the time.

    Thanks!

....very interesting, my sda 1C's are slightly tacky as well; I dust them once a week.

I also prefer them naked (without grills).
Just keep you cat from rubbing against them.

Luc...That would have to be one very big cat! The drivers are about 3' off the floor! Hahaha!

I think I'll try one of the new dust mits you can buy at the store to see if they stick as I wipe. I wonder if the sticky stuff is meant to be some kind of protective coating, etc. Hmmm????

They are suppose to be sticky, it's one of the reasons for the wonderful sound they make. If you really want to impress your quests, have them sit down and LISTEN, not look at the SDA's. Leave the grills on, it prevents all kinds of bad things from happening.

I'd have to agree.... let them listen, _then_ show off the drivers. With the smaller speakers, it's even more impressive. 'Cause it's like, "all that sound comes out of _that_?". Damn, I'm starting to sound like a Blose commercial.

Oh, and those grills have saved a driver or two for me... Or should I say... _from_ me.

F1Nut....You're so right! I do that, but I think I'll remove the fronts every now and then just to impress me! I love the look without them.

    Thanks!

nadams....I totally agree! When I was just getting into this stuff, I didn't know anything about SPL and such. When I did get a lesson in it, I was amazed at how the number of smaller drivers could create so much sound. I will never part with these and have made my family promise that if I die before any of them, they will keep them and remember me whenever they listen to them! What better way to keep them going even after I'm gone! They'd feel too guilty to sell them! Hahaha! :)

    Thanks!
