Tonight, I'm heading to an open air concert park here in Maryland called Oregon Ridge to watch the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

The BSO is pretty well regarded throughout the country. Tonights theme for the show is called "Silver Screen Classics." The BSO will be playing all the top movie themes from the last 30 years or so.

The biggest ones to expect are Star Wars, ET, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind.

REALLY looking forward to this. I've never been to the symphony before, but always wanted to. This is also scoring high with impressing my date tonight, :D

    WOW, what an amazing concert!

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra nailed everything perfect. They started with the 20th Century Fox fanfare, then went into a set of music from "Sound of Music", then "Spiderman", a James Bond 007 medley, then on to Harry Potter.

After the intermission, the big daddy of all sets came up...Star Wars. From that they played the opening title then flowed into the sequence from A New Hope (ships flying into view). After that was Yodas theme (ROTJ) then on to the Asteroid Field Sequence (ESB). From there was Darth Vaders theme/Imperial March (ESB). Lastly they played the Throne Room celebration (end of A New Hope) then finally flowed into the end title. All of this music was set to a fireworks display. INCREDIBLE!!!

Tell ya what everyone, we got a helluva orchestra here in Baltimore. They played everything PERFECT! I honestly couldn't tell any difference from John Williams score and the BSO playing it. Sounded exact.

To hear a live orchestra play the music from Star Wars made me appreciate the true magic that John Williams created for the original trilogy. The Star Wars theme has to be the most widely recognized movie theme ever.

As a side note, it was refreshing to see alot of kids at this performance. Had a bunch of them dressed in their Harry Potter getups. When the Harry Potter set started, these kids sat there in amazement at what they were hearing. Good to see them enjoy something other than all that rediculous rap and hip-hop out there.
