Ok I am fast approching the time when I will be replacing my mmc650's in the factory door locations with a set of mm6's per door in a custom 'glass door pod. (is that even a real term?). But I am having a problem with what amp(s) I should get and how to wire them.
The set up is much like I saw in on of the install showcases of polk showcars. 2 mm6 midbass drivers and 1 tweeter in each door. Now how should i power these for maximum SQ, I preferr polk amps for the "polk" look inside the car, (they will be installed in a display in the rear deck of the car) but if there is a better option SQ and looks im open to suggestions.

First, Id say to get the new MMC6500. These things are awesome and are $300, the same as the MM6. However, you wont be going wrong with the MM6, just that I like the new Carbon comps a lot better.

Second, Id dump the idea of dual mids and one tweet. Polk did this for show and I would wager that the sound would be no better and maybe even worse than a single mid in each door. Plus the pain in the **** its gonna be wouldnt be worth the cash.

If youre wanting to use Polk amps then Id suggest getting the 300.4. Its 75x4 and has variable x-overs on each channel. This way you can bi-amp the speakers for excellenct tuning flexibility and can bypass the passive x-over. Although its going to be pricey and for a little less than te $500 Polk amp you can get a JL Audio 300/4 that is also 75x4 and has a beter x-over and goes for around $475.

Yeah, Cody would take Polk amps over JL amps any day......unfortunately most SQ competitors, judges and magazine editors disagree with him.

polk amps are barely getting their name out
'SQ competitors, judges and magazine editors' prefer JL over Polk more because of psychoacoustics than anything else

Ok so doing dual mm6's won't result in better sq. What will? I like the look of the mm6's over the all black look of the mmc6500 but the grills are starting to grow on me. here is the planned setup, beyond this any other suggestions? (BTW my music taste ranges from rock, to techno, to ambiance, to bass)

    Current setup:
Kenwood KDCPS909 deck (comp deck from 1998)
Polk mmc650 in the doors Bi-Amped.
Directed audio 45/4 Amp running the door speakers.
(1)Polk mm124 sub in a custom spare tire enclosure. (blew the other one)
    MTX Thunder 1501d Mono amp

    Planned upgrades:
    Kenwood KDC-X879 Deck
Kenwood Music keg MP3 storage unit.
Polk mm6 / mmc6500 (midbass in the doors tweeter in the dash) Bi-amped skipping the passive x-over.
Polk c400.4 Amp for the fronts.
    Replacing my blown mm124 sub.
Damplifier in the front door panals and trunk.

    Thanks for any suggestions all.

do you already have that amp?
do you think youll ever get another sub?
point being--that amp is really made to be played at 2 ohms
i mean...its not bad to play it at 4...but they designed it to play at 2
another words...you can get the same power for less money
but if you already have it...then no worries...and you can always get another sub:D

i'm of the opinion that the 2 mids and 1 tweet per door is a good idea... now, maybe it's just me, but the mm6 tweets are crazy loud compared to the mm6 mids... i could easily deal with another mid in each door, and maybe be able to kick my xover from -6 to -3 dB for the tweets... but maybe my ears are just more sensitive
