Need Help on Dialing in the sub

I have a 2-channel system consisting of a Cambridge Audio 640C CD player, Parasound PHP/850 pre-amp, Outlaw monoblocks, Hsu STF-2 and a pair of Lsi7's. Also Signal Cable/Blue Jeans Cable interconnects and DIY power cords. Sounds awesome!!!

However, I've read several times in this forum that it can be difficult to dial in a sub on a 2-channel system. Although the bass sounds good to me, I want to make sure I'm getting the best possible sound. The only things I've done thus far to get the bass where it is now is to find the best location (trial and error placement method), turning on the tone defeat on the pre-amp, and using the controls on the back of the sub to set it up by ear. I have played around with the settings and eventually left the phase at 180 and the crossover set to 60. The room is 12 x 17.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

In my opinion, the best way is to burn some test tones and plot some frequency response graphs. That way you can see what is happening at the listening position. Then you adjust the crossovers, phase, and placement to best flatten out the response.

You can download the test tones and spread sheet here:
