Anyone using a single bi/dipole as a center surround?

I only have a 6.1 receiver and was wondering if anyone here has tried using a bi/dipole speaker like the FX series as a center surround. I currently have a RTi28 in that position, but was thinking about trying a FXi30 there. Just curious if anyone is doing anything similar in their setup.
Equipment list:
Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
Epson 8500UB 1080p projector
Elite Screens Sable 120" CineWhite screen

I know this doesn't really answer your question but the F/X or FX speakers are designed to be right OR left ...

I imagine a FX1000 would be best for that....

Have one woof, one tweet firing on each side of the room instead of one woof and one tweeter firing on one side and then a tweet firing on the other...
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Yeah, I know they're designed to be right or left. That's why I was thinking about trying one first, then maybe wiring both of them in series if a single doesn't work out. I'm hoping I'll get enough bass from the ported side so that I won't need to run them in series.

I was just wondering if anyone is running a single di/bipole as a center surround and if so, how that sounds compared to a single direct radiator.

Oh well... I'm getting a pair of FXi30's and I'll try one as a center surround. If I don't like the way it sounds, I may try them as my side surrounds and leave the RTi28 as a center surround.

Mount it high and sideways, so the woofer is aimed at the listening position.

The problem is that the center channels job is to tie the dialog to the screen. The Bipoles are meant to diffuse the sound so that you can't really locate them. I think you're asking the Fx's to do a job that they weren't made for. Same reason you don't ask an outfielder with a cannon for an arm to pitch, different jobs.

Yeah, Kip... I've got a CSi40 for a center. I'm talking about center surround/rear surround/whatever you want to call it.

Okay, so I'm illiterate.:p Guess we know why I got a 150 on my verbal for the SATs. But now you know not to use it for your front center. Damn I suck.

Interesting idea for a rear center .... hmmmm. I'm currently running a cs245i, but I kinda like the idea of running ONE f/x1000i in hopes of attaining a more ambient presentation. Definitely something to consider....
