Bi-amp CS40??
I've been debating which amp(s) I would like to power my speakers. I think I'm prolly going with used from the gon. I've pretty much settled upon something with 200w/ch though. The thought occurred to me yesterday, why not 2 matching 5 channel amps (purchased one at the time) to take advantage of bi-amping my 150's and CS40 while the other 4 channels power my surrounds. Would it be a good idea to feed a CS40 400watts?? I listen to movies at around 0db ref on my 3802 (havent figured out how to set 0db though, so it's factory default). I listen to music LOUD, over 100db, all the time and think the power reserve would be a good idea. Or have I just drank too much beer this week?
Any opinions??
*Forgot to add - room is 14'x22'x8'
TV sits on one 14' wall, main listening/viewing spot is centered approx 16' from TV.

You don't need an amp ... a few more months at 100+ dB consistantly and you won't be hearing much of anything.

You can use a good 2ch amp and bridge it to double the power. But if you're planning to bi-amp your entire system, two 5ch amps should be cheaper.

I think you would be better off...
Just adding ANOTHER center channel to it than bi-amping, 1 channel per center...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Scornful ...
I actually do use 2 - 5 channel amps ... in particular the Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature II's @ 425 wpc along with a 2 channel amp for the subs which I'm considering swapping out for another 5 channel as I could use a couple more lower power channels in the back.
If you go this route give some serious consideration to using one amp for the speakers on the left and one for the speakers on the right as opposed to one for the fronts and one for the sides/rears so that the overall load on the individual amps is at least relatively balanced.
