The guy who pulled over on the side of the road to sleep it off already drove drunk. The crime already took place when he drank too much and got behind the wheel. Why should he be rewarded for this?

It's commendable that he stopped, but not very bright. Of course he was probably too drunk to think straight. He just made it easier for the prosecutor.

I totally agree, usually some idiot soccer mom on a cell phone in her 6-ton SUV...

Also, any vehicle larger than a Jeep Cherokee should require a special license to prove you can actually drive AND PARK the thing...
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

Spyderman - Good points, and we are in the same area, so all the better in my eyes. I have a official designated driver....it's called my wife :D

I like to drink socially, but there is no reason we should still be dealing with this issue at these levels.

There's no reason to turn your 2 ton car into a deadly weapon.

What happens when you start driving after a couple drinks and thats the first time you can tell you are slow to react? Then what? Still not okay to pull over and listen to some tunes while you let the juice burn off? I understand whats being said, but, it still seems wrong to bust the guy trying to be responsible.

Our laws here are quite harsh. There was a case not long ago when a man was arrested for DUI. The police called someone to pick him up from the barracks.

The driver was taken home, but left the friends house. He made his way back to his car and drove again, This time he got into an accident and killed someone. He was charged with vehicular homicide, as he should have been. The scary part was the prosecutor's office charged the friend as an accessory to the fact, which is almost the same. He was aquitted after TWO trials. Now who is goilng to pay this man's legal fees?

    They mean business...

That's part of my point from yesterday.

Do they expect sober people to have to pull a gun on a drunk to keep them form getting behind the wheel? You're screwed up the arse either way.
