Trey, you need to look on the bay and find you a cheap mixer to use. My first was a ratshack unit that did a great job for low $$.

Someday in the future, not right now - way to much on the list to do - lol

The biggest concern is the Cerwin Vega, I was planning on having two subwoofers, but my friends Dad wouldnt let me use two, so I will be stuck with one - not sure how well one can rock out. I've heard these subwoofers in a pretty good size rooms, and the SPL those things create above 30hz is amazing for how cheap those things are. They have crazy amounts of bass but don't hit to low at all.

But heck, the only thing I own in this DJ gig is the Pioneers, rest is Des's except the subwoofers, and that belongs to another friend.

If I bought some of them subwoofers, I would definetely get the LW 15, 2 or 3 of them to DJ with.

Most of my DJ jobs are favors, or little pay - I do it mostly for the fun of it...

    But maybe one day

From 1 DJ to another....GOOD LUCK! Dezi, I've been DJing in gentlemen's clubs (aka...stripclubs) for about 3 years. I still do it 1 night a week at the largest stripclub in Baltimore. DJing a party like you're doing is much different than what I do from a skills aspect. You need very good skills on the mic in my environment.

Have fun with it though. You'll enjoy it!

I DJ'd local parties and dances for several years, and had a lot of fun doing it.

At first, I tried the same thing you're doing: Used mostly my home stereo equipment. If you're in a small room you can get away with it. I know you've heard this before, but hi-fi equipment really makes lousy PA equipment and it's only a matter of time before you blow something up. Especially speakers. But you should already know that, so.....

Regarding a mixer: If you want one on the cheap, I've got a little (I think 2 mic-3 line) stereo mixer from RS that I used before I bought a better one. It's DC powered, either battery (which I used) or DC adapter. Worked great last time it was used, and been in the box ever since.

Well I just got back from the gig --

4 hours of non stop music pretty much. Kinda nerve racking --

It seems people show you ALOT less respect when u do stuff as favors/low pay compared to when they pay you a large sum.....

Anyways, we forgot the remote to the Yammer so we couldnt turn on the subwoofer since the yamaha dosnt let u access the control panel through the receiver itself.

After that we had plenty of bass, and PLENTY of sound ---- ESPECIALLY with the KLH and Pioneers together, I eventually just unplugged the KLH because they together were drowning at the subwoofer.

As for the subwoofer, on some songs we had plenty of bass and it filled in a pretty good size room up well -- but it definetely wasnt enough. The LW 15 - 3 of them would be perfect.

Was fun though - all in all...

4 hours of non stop music pretty much. Kinda nerve racking --

Imagine 7 hours of non-stop music while keeping 3 girls rotating on and off stage 1 at a time after each song with 20-25 girls on the list, all the while doing announcements about the club (upcoming events, tip the bartenders, blah blah blah) every other song.

Gets a little nerve racking. So, Trey...we're hiring DJ's. Interested? :D

    Hey John,

Try 4 hours completely alone at a radio station.

"You're listening to WWJZ, 640 on the AM dial, playing ALL the hits of the 30's, 40's and 50's. WE, are the station that remembers."

Put on my theme song, "Shorty George" by Count Basie & the Orchestra.

"Hello Delaware Valley this is George Short and welcome to "Short Circuits!"

Then 4 straight hours of orchestrated insanity. Getting the news, weather, doing commercials and the requisite public service announcements. All by my lonely without the slightest bit of eye candy.

Oh hell no! I try my damnest to keep it fresh and lively the entire night. I've worked with some realy good DJ's and I've worked with some absolutely horrible ones. One guy I work with has to be the best I've seen and heard in my 3 years of doing this. Learned some good stuff from him. There's also another guy they just brought aboard that supposedly has 16 years experience as a club and radio DJ. His voice feels like an ice pick being shoved into your ears. In 1 week, he's managed to piss off literally everyone in the club, including customers.

But, for some strange reason, the GM brought him back because of some connections he has with local "regular" clubs so they can promote there. I give it maybe 2 months and he'll be out! This ain't the way you promote a stripclub.

Off my **** wagon now, ;)

I have come out from under my rock!

I know I've been lagging on this thread, but I have been experiencing technical difficulties (my computer).

    John,
Sounds like an interesting job to me. Nothing like playing music, watching women shake their goods (naked or otherwise), making announcments, all at the same time! And we all know what a gentlemen's club is ; )

    Trey,
You are so right about the respect thing. I was playin gthe music she wanted, but nooo wasn't good enough. It was good music too! Her friends were perfectly happy, yet all she could do was complain and make me feel like a horrible DJ (which I wasn't). We're lucky there wasn't a cat fight! Haha.

    Pauly,
It's not SVS yet, still M&K. But we are crossing our fingers!

Your very own audio princess (hilarious),
