Hello, I currently have the RT5000p system on an Onkyo 989. It sounds great but the hype on the new LSi series is driving me crazy. I would switch to the LSi series if it is a significant improvement. The one thing that is lacking with my setup is 2 channel stereo music. I feel that its missing something and I wonder if this new tweeter is what I need.
On paper the RT3000 looks like the winner. The RT3000's are more efficient. 92db vs 88db But why is the recommended power higher on the RT3000? 50-500watts vs 20-300watts
RT3000 has 300 watt sub vs the LSi25 150 watts.
And if weight proves anything in terms of quality, the RT3000 is 202lbs vs 91lbs for the LSi25
The RT3000 uses dual 6-1/2 drivers vs 5-1/4. How many people out there bought polks with 6-1/2's instead of the 5-1/4's b/c the 6-1/2's sounded better?
I use system mostly for movies but do alot of music too. I listen to mostly hard rock and heavy metal. I often like to listen to music/movies very loud. Which set can be driven harder yet have the most clarity and no distortion?
I currently do not need any other subs than the one the RT3000's use but I bet the LSi's will need a sub. If thats the case, which would be better suited with a PSW650 or PSW1200; LSi 25 or LSi 15?
I would like the professionals at Polk as well forum members to share any input on pros/cons of RT5000p vs LSi system.
So, if the vote is to upgrade, how much is a 2-3yr old mint condition RT5000p system worth?
