So is it really a telephone or a pocket computer?

Maybe it's time to change the definition of a phone which currently is something like this:

telephone /tĕl′ə-fōn″/
noun

An instrument that converts voice and other sound signals into a form that can be transmitted to remote locations and that receives and reconverts waves into sound signals.

An instrument for reproducing sounds, especially articulate speech, at a distance. An electronic device used for two-way talking with other people (often shortened to phone).

I'm not much of a cell phone person and actually only have one since we dropped the landline and wife said I need one in case of emergencies. I primarily use it to check sports scores and GPS use in the car. I get on my family's nerves by refusing to call it a phone and using "pocket computer". I mean let's face it, most people use them very little for actual voice communication

I recall in my early days of CompSci courses at Penn State U when our teacher said one day everybody will have a computer in their pocket. With mainframe computers then taking up large amounts of real estate I could not picture that ever happening...well, it has.
Yep, my name really is Bob.
