In-Wall Speakers installation

My friend has moved into a new house. He's got a plasma TV that he is going to mount to the wall, so he wants some speakers to match the wall, so in-walls would be the best.

Here's the kicker, it's a two story house, and the "theater" is going to be downstairs. What is the best way to run ceiling speakers, and front channels through the walls? Thanks.

Does he have to run ceiling speakers? Can he go with wall units throughout?

If he can, I would do this:

Pull the baseboard off of the wall and stuff the wire along the wall/floor to where he decides to install. Measure up and install a box, if he wishes, or just cut the hole in the wall. Drill another hole directly under it approx 2" from the floor (make sure the baseboard will cover the bottom hole) Fish the wire up, connect and install speaker.

    done...

if it's a relatively small wall, you could build it out a little and make enclosures for the speakers, sub and all to go in the front. This has added benefits of allowing him to flush-mount equipment later, but you have to be a good home DIY.
