I purchased some tubes from EBay and started down the tube hole this weekend because it is scorching humid this weekend.
Seems like Sylvanias are popular in NOS but whatever you would let go of.

I have a excellent pair of GE (probably made by RCA). Red base 5691/white print. They are different years which means there are some slight build variations. I've never detected a difference in sound.
The older one is 1956 and it has smooth edged mica's and more of a dark charcoal ladder plate. The newer one is from the early 60's and it has serrated mica's and the ladder plate is a dark gray. Structurally they are identical. 3 micas and extra support rods. Ruggedized 10,000 hour rated and built like a tank.

These are the what the 5692 is to the 6SN7. In fact they look identical in build and materials. To me they perform similarly too.
5691 = 6SL7
5962 = 6SN7
To me they the 569* have very similar sound characteristics. Very deep sound stage, velvety mids, deep bass, etc. They are more "romantic" than leaner more "in your face" tubes.
