I looking for some input :
I have around $ 200.00. My question is what should I get:
A) Subwoofer (most likely the psw202)
Center (Csi3B) Had the Csi20 and was not happy with it
C) Replace my 1997 Pioneer DVD (slow loading, no dts) with the Pioneer Dv536a (Also heard some good things about a 69.00 toshiba dvd) Overall, I'm looking for something durable..
I can't afford all three so I'm asking if one was in this situation which would you get?
My listening ratio is about 60% music, 40% movies
Thanks in advance
Mike

I say go subwoofer first, then center.
Shop around, you can find 202's for $100 if you look. Don't spend $200 on one. There aren't a TON of options for subs (worthwhile) in that pricerange, but there are some.
If you are handy with woodworking at all, you'd be suprised how well a $80-100 driver, and a $100-$120 plate amp can perform.

I think the Subwoofer option is the way to go. I would recommend this one Dayton 10" 100w from Parts Express for $124 (they sometimes are on sale for $99). I've heard some good things about this little sub. I haven't heard this particular one but I have another Dayton sub that I am very pleased with (The Dayton Titanic). You would still have the $ left over to buy the Toshiba SD-3960 that everyone is raving about."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Where did you get your center? Do they have an upgrade policy? If so, maybe you can get your center and a cheaper sub all for under $200.

Thanks for the reply
I bought the center at CC $54 open box. It was in perfect condition (just one of the pegs on the speaker cover was broken, could be easily glued back together). I did not like the way it sounded; It sounded too thin for my taste. The Csi3B has a deeper, more full sound to it.
Ufortunately, I did not realize that CC has an upgrade policy at the time of return.
Russ and shack, thank you also for the replies

This sub looks very similar (diff feet though) to the JBL sub that is sold in the SCS home theater package line. I wonder if JBL makes this sub for Dayton? I'm going to keep an eye on this sub....:)
Thanks for the info

i have the dayton 10" 100w and love it. it probably won't fill a huge room but i live in an apartment and it gives me plenty of tight bass with plenty of headroom. -
Hey Mike, I have a PSW350 that I am looking to get rid of. My new house is too big for the sub, and my PSW505 just arrived yesterday. I know I have the manual, but I will have to check on the original box (if not I have a monitor box it can fit in). I was looking to put it up on the flea market page next week after I take some pictures.
I will be unhooking it and taking pictures of it on Saturday if you are interested. I am looking for $180 out the door (including shipping). I plan on putting it up for a Polkster to buy before going to ebay. Here is a link to a PSW350 that sold a few days ago on ebay.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5706694452Mains: Polk RTi70's

I agree that adding a sub to your system is better than upgrading the center, although that will need to happen at some point too. For $200, you won't get much, but I'd like to recommend the Sony SAW X700. Circuit City carries them for $300 but you can find it for $200 (at bhphotovideo.com for instance). I'm sure compared to the higher end stuff it's not superb, but for the money it's a great sub. It has dual 10" woofers, which makes it a lot more powerful than a single 10". This is also why its frequency range reaches 20Hz. I've found it works very well for movies. It's a little boomy for music, but lowering the output for music just a bit helps. I would normally have never turned to Sony for a good sub, but I read some decent reveiws online. It is rather big though, so you'll need some space for it. After experiencing Star Wars and Lord of the Rings with a sub that digs this deep, you'll never go back to smaller subs with less range.Current System:
