Audiophile Headphones?

Does anybody have experience with or know anything about either of these? I tried this or something similar yesterday and was impressed. I'm currently looking for something smaller than the reference phones I have for recording just for enjoying music - the size seems appealing, as does the price (decent headphones are pretty expensive). Anybody?

Note: I'm especially interested in the first set - however, if you've tried the cheaper ones, I'd like to hear what you thought of their overall usability. For instance, they seem to have extremely delicate cords - which doesn't seem too good, but then again. I'm in no rush - since I'll be broke in few days once I buy my stereo, which I'm sorry to say, has been delayed since the retailer doesn't have the stuff in stock. Uhh.

    The etymotics are supposed to be excellent in-ear-phones. That being said, if you don't like them, its likely because you have to cram them in your ear and that can be uncomfortable. I understand them to have an excellent bass response for a pair of headphones. If you can get past the comfort issue, then they are definitly worth checking out. They are very highly regarded among the folk at head-fi.org. I've heard though that since they are in your ear, when the cord moves on your clothes, you can hear that vibration, so, if you are looking to jog with them, they may not be the best. Shure makes good earbuds that may be better for jogging with.

    No jogging - maybe biking, though. Having to cram them way in doesn't sound too comfortable, but it seems better than wearing clunky studio phones + at least they won't be too noticeable. I am worried about the thin cord, though - I had a cheap sony pair I carried around for casual listening - the MDR-7506's - more correctly the MDR-7506, now that the second phone has been detached, LOL. The cord was actually pretty solid but they just got racked up.

    As long as you don't get it caught in the spokes you should be fine. Unlike other phones, I don't think you can upgrade the Ety's cable. Just try keeping it from getting too much slack. Check the warranty too to see what happens if the cable goes.

    I have a pair of Shure E5's. Theyre a bit expensive ($400) but if you can afford them you will LOVE them. The sound is so full, they are very musical. The bass makes your head rumble. Do not get ER4's. They are so steril sounding and have no warmth at all to me at least. Try to find a deal on E5's, I only paid $300 for mine.
