Polk V80 Ceiling Speaker Crossover Board

I know this may be a long shot, but I’m looking for a replacement crossover board for a V80 in-ceiling speaker. I’ve had the speakers for over eight years and they’ve been flawless until recently, when one stopped working. I’ve tested both the woofer and tweeter by bypassing the crossover, and both function properly. Because of this, I’m hoping the issue is isolated to the crossover board and that it can be replaced to get the speaker working again. Would anyone have any idea where to ever start looking?

Crossover components can be replaced. Pull the crossover and post a pic or 3 of it.

You should also test the connections/wiring from the crossover to the drivers for continuity.

I found a photo of your speaker/crossover. There are 2 electrolytic can caps, one mylar cap (yellow), 3 resistors and 2 inductors. Have any of the white resistors turned a darker color and/or have cracks? Do either of the can caps appear to be bulging at the top?

Another thought...swap the questionable speaker into a known working location. If the speaker works there the problem is elsewhere such as the wiring to the speaker.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have tried the speaker on a known working channel and it didn’t work. None of the caps, resistors or inductors look bad. But there is a rust build up on the solder side of the board. And there seems to be some type of built up under the board that may be breaking some of the tracers. The picture you posted is of a different (but similar) speaker. I will try to add a pic or two of the board. The cheapest used replacement speaker I could find is $150.00.
That’s why I was trying to find a cheaper solution.4by9lit9scpu.jpeg

Damn! Looks like it's been in a high humidity environment like a bathroom. You could try to desolder everything then resolder, but the traces around the solder pads do not look good.

So, it appears that is a current Polk product, so give them a call to enquire about a replacement crossover board. Heck, they may even cover it as a customer accommodation.

I reached out to PA and they sent the we're sorry "but" e-mail. They said it's not a stand alone part and that I do understand. So, I bought a used crossover board from a different PA ceiling speaker and I will modify it to work. This speaker is installed in my kitchen not far from the sink, dishwasher, oven etc. So, it may not the last time I have to deal with this. Thanks again for your time and help!

It would be best to apply a conformal coating such as this product to the replacement board.

I'm surprised Polk doesn't offer the crossover as a separate part. Sadly, not the company they used to be.
