Bringing home some Monitor 10s very soon

Believe it or not I found them in a junk shop! Very reasonable price too.

Peerless tweeters, thankfully, and I was surprised to see these cabinets had a lighter color than the usual brown vinyl vintage Polk exterior, closer to the oak tone of my SDA SRS. They're in excellent condition.

The shop owner demo'd them for me using a Realistic Shack receiver. The highs weren't that great but the bass really surprised me. I don't recall the 10b sounding that good in our store back in 1985, but these are the earlier 10s, so maybe the 10b were a step down?

The seller's shop was carpeted and stacks of stuff everywhere to break up any standing waves, so I'm sure that helped, but the extension has to be there in the first place in order for room treatment to have any effect. I plan on redoing the grilles with current generation AT fabric and replacing the caps and resistors (probably the root of the trouble with the highs), once I figure out exactly what revision these are.

I haven't brought them home yet because I have to make room here. I've been shedding equipment mercilessly yet somehow I still don't have space. The 10s are sitting at my friend's shop, I'll grab some pictures and post them later today.

I've got to get these off the floor and tilted. Does anyone have a link to DIY stands?
