Okay, time for the real review. I haven't had a bunch of time to listen to them, but I only got home with them about 2hrs ago.
1. They reach much, much lower than my previous setup. I'm running them independently of everything, so they're getting 100% of the power from my receiver. I was very surprised at the sound. Everything is better than before. Highs are better, lows are better.... and everything inbetween. (To recap, my previous setup was the 5jrs on chan A and the RS Nova 6's on chan b)
2. Loud!
My placement doesn't allow for very good imaging, as I'm forced to put one of the speakers back in a corner of my room, partially blocked by a bookshelf. I'm emptying that book shelf right now and getting it out of the way. Even with that obstruction, they still sound great. I was worried that my amp wouldn't be beefy enough, but it appears to be working okay. I haven't hit the overload protection yet, and they've been playing nonstop for about 1.5 hours.
I think my speakers would benefit greatly from the stands that they were sold with. I may have to just make a pair of stands for them to get them off the floor. If I sit on the floor, it makes a big difference in the punchiness of the music. As it is right now, they're a little weak in certain parts of the room. Again, my room isn't the greatest for music, except to just get it loud enough that it permeates every corner of the house, which these 10a's do nicely .
There is one defect worth noting, and that is that one of the bottom front corners of a speaker is split just a little bit right at the corner. Dunno if this'll effect the design; I would assume only if it were allowing air to leak out.
I'm very very pleased with these.... they will get good use!
One a side note... what's the best way to remove smoke smell from speakers? Is Febreeze safe for the wood itself, or even the grills?
Oh, and I have lots of pictures, I just need to edit them and get them up. Prolly have time tonight.
Thanks,
