What the f***!

There have been a number of decent movies and series in the last few years that have kept us entertained. But what has been a real turnoff for me is the continual use of f-bombs that fly around unnecessarily. I get that they are needed here and there to perhaps emphasize a point but many times they are used in places where it becomes so redundant that the use of them doesn't add anything at all.

Anybody else feel the same or is it just me?

Unfortunately, I think that is the way many people talk in real life these days. The shows just portray that. I agree that it is excessive and I don't really care for it either.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It was funny at first, but The excessive f-bombs got annoying

I find the obligatory sex scene much more annoying. Especially when it’s HBO, Prime, or another pay service, where they feel obliged to really push the limits.

All this has, over the years, replaced real quality writing and film making to a large extent. Not a a morals commentary but a fact. Since my kids have grown up I find myself dropping the F bomb more in the house, but they all know that is unacceptable outside the house. One more coffee talk note - how many F bombs are dropped in the greatest movies of all time?

In contemporary social interactions, F-bombs have lost most of their shock value and are now little more than F-squibs.

I mean if the President of the United States can drop F-Bombs on national television it should be acceptable for children in elementary school right?

I dunno, in NJ, profanity is a first language.

I think y'all need to stop clutching pearls and go touch some grass in the sun.

I mowed the lawn (for the last time this year) today. It was sunny. Does that count?

There are a few things about the English language that that just gets under my skin. Over use of profanity kind of defeats the purpose of using it. An f-bomb was once used as an exclamation mark to the message....now it's just another word in the sentence.

Another under the skin situation is just how lazy many people are when speaking. At one time you might say the car needs to be washed but now it's the car needs washed.

I'm just a cranky old man I guess, now excuse me while I get the the f***ing kids of my grass!

I agree about too many f-bombs when another adjective or adverb would work better.

But there's a scene in an episode of The Wire where McNulty and Bunk investigate a murder scene in a kitchen and almost the only thing they say are versions of F. It worked amazingly well and it's available to stream on YT.

I've heard some Irish folk use both the standard f-bomb and also feck. I kinda like go feck yourself.
Going out for a few beers and some wings tonight, I'll have to give it a go.

You can always go full on BSG and just tell people you don't give a frack.

Reading "feck" makes me think of MMA's Irish Conor McGregor speaking. ;)
