Soundstage! Speaker Measurements Link - LSi9 Included
http://www.soundstagemagazine.com/speakermeasurements/
This is a fabulous link. Shows the true anechoic FR, distortion, phase, and impedance of the speaker tested.
The LSi9 is included, and did damn well against some very pricey competition.
The Listening Window is probably the most telling FR chart - an average of several 15 degree off axis response curves. The LSi9 did very well here. Look at that Vifa tweeter - clean and flat - very impressive. Distortion is very low, even at 95 dB @ 2 meters, above 2 kHz.
The LSi9 does exhibit a 5-6 dB rise at about 80 Hz, and that is probably some of the mid-upper bass "warmth" that many attribute to this speaker.
LSi9 bass response heads south below 80 Hz, but hangs in there at a reduced level into the 40 Hz region - probably the reason many feel is has such decent bass response.
However, THD hits 10% (the industry standard for "clean bass") @ 60 Hz @ 90 dB @ 2 meters.
Again, this is anechoic with no boundary reinforcement considered. Add at least 15 dB for boundary effects, so in a typical room, the LSi9 will do "clean" mid-bass at 105+ dB at 2 meters - pretty impressive. Below 60-70 Hz, it would benefit from a good subwoofer to extend the clean bass response, and this is typical of any bookshelf unit.
Notice how THD rises to a peak at 100 Hz, then drops suddenly at around 70 Hz and then rises back up again. That dip at 70 Hz is probably the tuning point of the vented enclosure. At the tune point, cone excursion will be strongly damped, thus reducing THD. Below the tune point, the vent and the driver begin to operate out of phase and cone excursion (and THD) again starts to increase quickly.
Overall, a thumbs up performance for the LSi9, comparing favorably or much better than some very expensive competition.

Bah hah ha! Good one, Troy!
There is also an amp testing section hotlinked there, but I don't recognize all the names. Anthem, Conrad Johnson, Krell - some pretty heady stuff."What we do in life echoes in eternity"
