First Post - Have Questions on ceiling speakers

Just purchased 2 pair of RC60I in-ceiling speakers to go in sun room with cathedral ceiling, and spool of 16/2 class 3 wire.
1. Can I connect each pair of speakers and have just two lines going to my amp, or does each speaker need to go directly to the amp?
2. Is a plug the preferred method of securing wire to speakers, or is it OK to just wrap wire directly on the speaker post?
3. Anywhere on the Polk web page for info/discussion on the most very basic topics for newbies like myself?

First off welcome to the polk forum . Now for your questions, 1. i would say run each speaker the the amp, 2. plugs would be preferred but you can wrap the bare wire on the speaker posts but if you do be very very careful not to touch the wire, if you do the grease from your fingers will eventually cause the wire to corrode or something and mess up the connection, and for 3. there is a spot on polks website with basic hookup questions for HT and an FAQ it's located in the home audio section under the 'learn' tab as FAQ & Advice. here's the link for it http://www.polkaudio.com/home/faqad/index.php
Good luck with your system -
1. No, you should NOT connect the speakers and make a single run back to the amp. Each speaker should get it's own run.
2 reasons:
a) Most music is recorded in 2 channel stereo, you will only be bringing out 1 of those channels thus only getting half of the music.
b) you would be wiring the speakers in parallel, which would cut the impedance in half. This might not be okay for the amp
2. Since you are making a more or less permanent installation, there is nothing wrong with connecting right to the binding posts. Make sure you have a nice tight connection and forget about it.
If you plan on moving them around, or you swap things out alot, then I'd say put plugs on.
3. For discussion, you're here. For posted info., go to the FAQ's Joel mentioned.
