Quick question...does the unit come with cables for the 5.1 analog output? I know they would be of the cheap variety, but just curious.Polk CS245i Center

setzer808,
Would love to hear your comments. I found the CE595 to be amazingly good with SACD. Also not bad at all on CDs. -
Ok, here are some more of my thoughts on the CD595.
Its sound quality on SACD's is simply excellent. Listening to some Dark Side of the Moon, Tito Puente, Bruebeck (sp?), and a Samper of various classical performances has been a treat. The ability to easily switch between 2channel and multi-channel version on SACD is great. Also switching over to the CD layer on the hybrid discs really helps to showcase the advantages of SACD's increased sound quality.
I was quite afraid that going from my Marantz I would lose some standard CD performance. Well, if I did, I certinally can't tell. The performance of standard CD's on the CD595 is a good as I could hope. High's are clear and bass is full and detailed. From Nora Jones to the Blue Man Group CD listening has been great.
The build quality is solid, no complaints there. The lack of a set of standard stereo outputs for 2channel non-sacd playback is an odd choice I think, especially since I can find no way to make the CD595 output to the subwoofer channel when playing a standard CD and when connected to my 5.1 inputs.
Its not really that bad, the bass I get from my 55i's more than sufficient for most recordings, and I can always use the optical out to my receiver...though I actually prefer the DAC of the Sony to my Yamaha when it comes to redbook CD's. I may just buy a set of Y-adapters and run the Front L/R to both my receivers 5.1 inputs and its standard CD input.
All in all, its a wonderful player...and a changer no less, that provides excellent sound quality, good looks, and a price that barely over that of standard 5 disc CD-only changer...a definite win.
If anyone has any specific questions, I'm more than happy to answer what I can.Polk CS245i Center

I never heard that before (Sorry I couldn't resist the pun.) Yes there probably is musical information up there. And if those amps can really reproduce 5-100,000 hertz like they claim, then those tones will be only a burden to your Amp. Remember, not only can we not hear above 20-24kHz, our speakers generally can't produce much above that either, just food for thought. -
The Sony ES version of the CE595, the C2000ES, is about to be unleashed in September for $400.00. So what does the extra $250.00 buy you? (other than Sony ES' 5 year warranty) Here's a preview....

Well...the features of the ES version are...of course, a little better. The additional outputs are quite nice of course. The difference in remotes is likely not an issue to anyone using a universal, but could be if additional remote functions are available.
However, from the description of the differences I'd wager one would have a VERY hard time discerning a difference in sound...of course that is speculation.
I guess the question might be...IF both units provide the equal or very similar sound quality, is $250 worth the extra features.

The SCD-CE595 is probably one of the best audio bargains out there. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the CE775.
