Steely Dan AJA Best vinyl version..

Who here has heard a few of the many options out there?

I know there are a few different views on this, especially the original, that I believe is AB 1006 and the repress AA 1006, but also the versions below.

UHQR is this worth picking up?
MFSL
Japanese with OBI

I only have the Japanese SACD version, that I love, but I want it on vinyl..

    Larry:

I just checked my two AJA's.

One label is marked AB 1006, also AB 1006 in it's dead wax matrix. The other's label is AA 1006 but it's dead wax has A AB 1006. According to Discogs the crossed out B with an added A in the dead wax indicates my AB labeled 1006 is also a first pressing.

Both are mint no scratches, scuffs, spindle marks etc. It's been many years since I listened to one right after another to compare, if I ever did.

If I do a comparison, I'll report back.

I'd like to add a SACD of it to my shelves.

    Enjoy!

The Cisco pressing is also very good, but I like the UHQR better by a smidge, and the UHQR is also a better value. The Cisco pressings sell at a huge premium.

For multiple reasons, I'm guessing this picture is NOT truly Scott's B)

Exactly. That's probably for stylus inspection, and I don't think Scott is doing that. Also, I don't think he'd be using a P-mount cartridge like that AT311EP.

Just an aside, the NYT had a good article on Chad Kassem not long ago, “The Wizard of Vinyl is in Kansas.”

I love the AB and don't think I need another on vinyl.
I'd seek it and compare it to the AP if I were you.
Then report out and save me some $$$. :)

You are in for a treat. The items you have on the right side ARE OUT OF SIGHT. The left are not slackers but let me know what you think.

Thanks for suggesting Hugh Masekela, it sounds incredible on my system, and the wife is loving it as well, win-win.
Starting disk 4 in just a minute..

This is another one that sounds great. It’s also a one step.
