Favorite Line from a Song

It might be difficult to narrow it down to one, but what is your favorite line from a song?

I always like this line from “Freewill” by Rush: “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.”

I’ve come back to this line many times when I was procrastinating on making a difficult decision.
Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden

There are so many, even from Led Zeppelin alone. A number of their songs have 5 or more lines each that I love. "The Rover," "Kashmir," "In the Light," "Ten Years Gone," "Achilles Last Stand."

Al Stewart has quite a few as well ("One Stage Before" and "Year of the Cat"), but this part of "Roads to Moscow" always, ALWAYS gives me goosebumps for some reason:

I'll never know, I'll never know why I was taken from the line and all the others
To board a special train and journey deep into the heart of holy Russia

    There are so many...

    Kansas's "Dust in the Wind"

    Now, don't hang on
Nothin' last forever, but the earth and sky
    It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy

    From Harry Chapin's "Taxi".

It was somewhere in a fairy tale
I used to take her home in my car
We learned about love in the back of a Dodge
The lesson hadn't gone too far.

Later at the end of the song...

    And here, she's acting happy
    Inside her handsome home
And me, I'm flying in my taxi
    Taking tips and getting stoned
I go flying so high when I'm stoned

And from Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle".

And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

    From led Zeppelin's "Ramble On".

    Mine's a tale that can't be told
    My freedom I hold dear
How years ago in days of old
    When magic filled the air
'Twas in the darkest depths of Mordor
I met a girl so fair
But Gollum and the Evil One
Crept up and slipped away with her, her, her, yeah
And ain't nothin' I can do, no
    I guess I'll keep on
    Ramblin', I'm gonna
Sing my song, I've gotta find my baby
I'm gonna ramble on, sing my song
Gonna work my way all around the world
    Baby, baby, ramble on, yeah

Doctor, my eyes have seen the years
And the slow parade of fears without crying
    Now I want to understand

To see the evil and the good without hiding
You must help me if you can

I can't post the lyrics from Gary Lee's "Rodeo Song" 'cause the net nanny here will be masking out every other word.

Sheesh, I'd have to give that some careful thought for today, but back when I was in my 20's lol.....I'd take my AC/DC albums to parties and sing the lyrics to the girls that were interested....Love hungry man, Girls got rhythm, Touch too much, Walk all over you.....ug, it's difficult to believe what I did in those days....what I like I lick, what I don't I kick.....

It was REAL pain. his wife June was sick, he had been sick, she died not long after the album was released, he died soon after she passed.

Yeah. That's one of those songs that gives me chills. The whole album is a masterpiece for the era. It just had its 31 year release anniversary...wow, time flies.

    Led Zeppelin, "The Rain Song"-
This is mystery of the quotient: upon us all, a little rain must fall

    Bruce Springsteen, "Brilliant Disguise"-
God have mercy on the man, who doubts what he's sure of

    Rush, "Tom Sawyer"-
He knows changes aren’t permanent – but change is

I know that's just the way it is
When you're all grown up but you're still a kid
    And you realize you're somebody
That somebody loves more than themselves
And there's a beauty in the innocence
Of not knowing that the time they've spent
Is more than one could ask for
And that's a special kind of love
And it's only there for a lifetime, then it's gone
Yeah, it's only there for a lifetime, then it's gone
    And it's bye mom

Some of you may be familiar with the band Calexico. Tonight, I was listening to their Algiers album, and the song "The Vanishing Mind" (last song on the album) really speaks to me, since my mom suffered from dementia. I don't know who wrote this song, but they clearly had to deal with a similar issue with a loved one.
