R.I.P. Mr. & Mrs Gene Hackman

Few actors could convincingly play some of the roles he played… 95 years was a good run.

Enjoyed many of his movies. Didn't realize he was over 90, wonder if he or his wife had a debilitating medical condition. RIPYep, my name really is Bob.

The fact that even the dog passed kinda makes me think carbon monoxide poisoning.
I once saw an interview with him in which he said that he strived to “never play the same role twice” in his career. What a diverse and talented actor - a true professional. Rest In Peace sir.“Human beings are born with different capacities. If they are free, they are not equal. And if they are equal, they are not free.”

One of my all time favorite movies is the replacements.
Looks like carbon monoxide, his wife and dog died as well. Awful truly- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
R.I.P.
What a stellar career, thank you for the entertainment.Political Correctness'.........defined

This is really a sad story of how this happened. It's very sad that Gene Hackman has had strained relationships with his offspring throughout life. It was written in one story that his daughters had not spoken to him in more than six months and when his son contacted last contacted him was unknown.
_______________________________I have never had a favorite actor per se, but I have seen Gene Hackman in a few films where he was absolutely great. I saw the character of the story and not the actor. So to look on the postive side of his life and to celebrate his accomplishments, I offer three of my favorite movies no matter the star.
(Note: I liked this film; however, Kevin Costner the star has never been a favorite of mine.}
Here is my favorite:
Bat21* (1988) – Lt. Col. Iceal Hambleton
Bat*21 is a 1988 American war drama film directed by Peter Markle, and adapted from the book by William C. Anderson, novelist and retired United States Air Force colonel. Set during the Vietnam War, the film is a dramatization based upon the rescue of a U.S. air navigator shot down behind enemy lines in Vietnam. The film stars Gene Hackman and Danny Glover with Jerry Reed, David Marshall Grant, Clayton Rohner, Erich Anderson and Joe Dorsey in supporting roles.
While still coming down by parachute, Hambleton makes radio contact with Captain Bartholomew "Birddog" Clark (Danny Glover), the pilot of a Cessna O-2 Skymaster, flying a forward air control mission near where the EB-66 was destroyed. Birddog becomes Hambleton's link to rescue based on maps of golf courses that Hambleton has played.
Based on a an actual rescue - Lots of REAL HEROES
(The rescue of Bat 21 Bravo, the call sign for Iceal "Gene" Hambleton (a navigator aboard an EB-66 aircraft shot down behind North Vietnamese lines), was the "largest, longest, and most complex search-and-rescue" operation during the Vietnam War. Five additional aircraft were shot down during rescue attempts, directly resulting in the deaths of 11 airmen, the capture of two others, and another airman trying to evade capture.)
One of several great planes in this movie, Cessna O-2 Skymaster"Sometimes you have to look to the past to understand where you are going in the future"

RIP. One of the all-time greats.

They don't make them like him anymore. Great actor, never heard an evil word about him. As we all know however, even the greats are not immune to family squabbles. The deaths seem fishy to me as they didn't happen at the same time....apparently. Either way, RIPHT SYSTEM-

Awful. That article still leaves a lot of questions in my mind, such as, if Gene had such severe altzheimers why they didn't have someone helping the wife with his care. Or did they.....
Did the wife get officially diagnosed with Hantavirus and was she being treated for it at all?
Also, the article said they were found dead after a "welfare check". Seems a strange way to put it since I heard the 911 call where their outdoor worker said he saw one of them (Gene?) on the floor. It wasn't any routine welfare check that's for sure....George / NJ

I think the welfare check is what it's called when you phone police to go check on a person's welfare, health when you might be concerned about a person. Definitely not with regards to the financial meaning of the term.

Ha yeah I know that, I just thought it odd that the article didn't mention the 911 call where the guy said there was one of them on the floor and they were not moving. It wasn't some sort of regular welfare check that might be done on elderly people or something at regular intervals. It was an emergency prompted by the 911 call. The article is pretty typical of reporting nowadays where it just plain left important details out. I'll leave it at that....
I think it more odd that someone with altzheimers so severe that he didn't realize his wife was dead for a week or so, wouldn't have some healthcare assistance.George / NJ
