RTA 12 drivers in Monitor 10 cabinets?

I currently have a pair of RTA 12’s which I really enjoy in my out-of-town work apartment. I also have a pair of Monitor 10B’s which I purchased on the cheap seeing as the 4 woofers were frozen and had been replaced with Goldwood drivers. While not horrible, they definitely were not up to the standard of my 12’s or even my other pair of Monitor 10’s.

Finding and replacing 4 6203’s is a challenge and I have had no luck finding anyone to re-center the shifted magnets. As an alternative I have an opportunity to buy another set of RTA 12’s in rough condition for a C-note. Is it feasible to simply install the drivers/crossovers from the 12’s into the 10’s cabinets? While not exact, the cabinet dimensions are not that far off and I would retain the stock 10 PR’s. Worth a shot or not?

For that price, if the drivers are confirmed to be all good, I'd say it would be hard to go too far wrong and it would be an interesting experiment.

Are they RTA 12C? If so those would be MW6600X (or MW6501 same thing). Those have different T/S parameters but not vastly different. Smaller enclosure size and different PR than they were designed for could be issues, as well as not having the tweeter set back.

There is someone here who has been super generous with his time in repairing people's drivers with shifted magnet assemblies. I don't know if he can still do it or not. @lawdogg

If you are handy and have the ambition there is a thread or two on how to do it.

What city do you live near?

    Maybe a meet-up could happen.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

@lawdogg , I must have missed that you do this, or probably forgot. Do you want to fix some I have and give away or sell?

@Conradicles Sure - well, I wouldn't sell them but I would certainly keep them on hand to mail to anyone who reaches out looking for a replacement! Thanks! Please shoot me a PM.
